Mega Save Optical Optical

I came here as a recommend from my boyfriend. As far as I remember, I could never wear large frame glasses because all the ones I went to would not be able to make my prescription lens thinner. At Mega Save, they have done 4 of my prescription glasses. They are very nice people and they know how to make my glasses look good on me. A very good thing about this place is my frame is very reasonable in price (I have 2 polos and 2 raybans). While other places tried to charge me $ 550 for my raybans prescription sunglasses, he custom ordered mine for $ 360. You just have to be friend with him and he will help you with all he could. I like him even he was a bit quiet at first but he’s and his store is the best in Toronto. I am happy with their products and service.

I had the worst experience in my life in this store, there is an old man there who just work by himself in the store where no one else to help him, anyways I went there based on the reviews I read that this place is a cheap place to make an eyeglasses lenses so I went there to try it out and I told that person that I want to make some modification to the lenses as I want them shorter than their actual size, as their actual size is big on my face, so he told me to come after 3 hours to pick it up, and when I came back after 5 hours he didn’t finish them yet plus the finishing of the lenses was terrible he made the button of the lenses as a straight line which made the frame looks ugly, I wonder how come an optician doesn’t have a common sense in making lenses for a frame, also after he installed one lens, he couldn’t put the other because of course of the design he made, and because it took him so long to do it, he was throwing my frame in a very careless way, how come a person run a business and he treats his first time customers in such a rude way, I’ve never ever had such a bad experience in my life like the one I had at this store, this store might be good for people who look for a very cheap frames plus glasses, but don’t expect to make any changes to the frame you selected, sorry for the long story but I wanted to share my experience with you on Unilocal so people could decide whether they wanna go or not to this place, NOT recommended at all.

This optician is just a hole in the wall, and they have a rather limited selection of frames, but the price and the service are the best! I am on my 2^nd pair of glasses in 3 years and both pairs fit well and look good. I use progressive (no-​line) bifocals and the quality is top notch — no distortion — and I see clearly. What more could I ask for? And at ¹⁄₃ the price of the «Luxottica» opticians (which include almost everybody else).
It’s also half a block away from Jane subway station. Convenient if you use transit.
I reduced my rating to 2 stars, strictly because of the lower prices. He was a bit rude to my wife after her cheap frames broke. Not only that, when she got the glasses back the lenses were scratched (they were OK before) and he charged her for new lenses.
I doubt if we will go back.

I just got my second pair of glasses from Mega Save and it was another pleasant experience. They have an excellent selection of frames, without being overwhelming. They also have very reasonable prices on designer frames and a really handy section with budget frames (I think it’s about $ 45 for the lens and frame combo from that section).
Anyhow — i found a pair of glasses I love, he made them for me in half an hour and made sure they fit well. I’m not sure what else I could possibly need from a glasses store!
