Knowledgeable staff. Hairstylist even taught me a few things! Honest too. Instructor lady miscalculated amount of services and hairstylist lady corrected it at the end. I like that the hairstylist dounle-checked that, as I didn’t expect them to and I made a mental note to do it myself. Imagine my delight when I realized that she took initiative. Tada! Receptionist was not the greatest. She seemed to have the administrative stuff down, but didn’t seem to have any interest in accommodating inquiries such as estimated waiting time. She said«several minutes» but it was more like 20 – 30. Womp womp. Good conditioner recommendation though. Overall not bad. The receptionist part is really unfortunate though.

Great place and great prices! The staff are amazing as well! No need to go anywhere else it’s all here under one roof!

I always leave here happy and have been here a few times since moving to the east end of the city. I usually have full or partial foils and a cut with style. The instructors are very good and are involved in the process from start to finish to ensure the end result is what you want. The students I have been paired with have been eager to learn and friendly — sometimes nervous, which is to be expected. It is a student learning facility and the main purpose is for the students to learn through experience, for those who comment negatively you should go to a professional salon.

Poor customer service !!! Last week, I went to the Dufferin campus, during lunch time, the receptionist told me to come back in half an hour because some people were waiting to be served and they were at this time under staff. I totally understood, and came back 30 minutes later, and an other receptionist told me the same, that she was sorry but I had to come back again in half an hour. I couldn’t wait and was a little upset and asked her if she will tell me the same in an other 30 minutes. Anyway… I left. Today, I went back there(I like giving a second chance), this time I went a little earlier around 11am, this time, they took me, and I waited a little more than an hour until … a customer came and the receptionist told him«Be ready, for a long wait.» 5 minutes later I saw the guy having is haircut while I was still waiting. I went to the receptionist to complain, she was kind of surprise and told me that He must have went to the classroom and someone took him right away. I asked her if it was First come, First serve, and said yes, she didn’t try to do nothing about it. 5 minutes after, the guy who came just after me, got served. I was blown away, mad, so I left. Nobody seemed to care about the long wait, the manager in his office was watching videos on Youtube, Students and employees were fooling around. I will never go back to this place !! And I am willing to spend a few more bucks for my haircut in a regular place rather than this awful place who doesn’t care about customers. For a place, who is suppose to teach future hairdresser their job, they seemed to have forgotten the essential. How to have customers and make sure they come back !!!

I use to often go to Marca for facials and was always very happy. This time I went for a manicure/pedicure. The girl who did my pedicure was great and did her job well. My manicure was OK but she was so sloppy putting on the polish I had a few fingers that weren’t completely covered. I do like the time they spend to massage you. I don’t like how the teacher comes over in front of the students to ask you how it was. Before I was leaving I spoke to the teacher about the poor polish job oh and some of my nails were round and others straight. She did offer to have it fixed but I declined because I had to leave. It was about $ 40 so not really a great deal seems as though $ 35 is standard at most nail shops.

Completely contrary to Caitlin’s review… I loved my visit. Having read her review before hand, I still balls’d up and walked on over for a hair styling &french manicure. My french manicure totaled to $ 13, and included a hand + arm massage, nail trim, buff and french nail polish manicure. I also made a new friend, as the service was friendly and it’s always fun talking to students in the esthetics industry :) the end result was great, too! My updo looked great as well. I was a bit nervous, with the whole«no appointments» thing, but I managed to get someone within a few minutes of waiting. She was a great stylist, and also fun to talk too. She took my dry, frizzy bob and turned it into a beautiful curly updo with a Marilyn Monroe spin too it(I brought in pictures to help). It was great having students stop and watch what she was doing, some even left a few kind comments:) It totaled to $ 20 because of the updo special. The counter receptionist are great too, very real and willing to help if you ask. But that was just my experience ;) Good luck, xo
