Grinning Face Non-Dairy Gelato

Since I’m rarely in the Cabbagetown area, I buy Grinning Face gelato from grocers like Fresh From the Farm in the east end or Pestacio in the uptown area. I am always so impressed by the varieties of flavours that are churned out each season. Some stand-​out flavours, so far, are rum & raisin, «Punch Buggy» coffee, and of course, dark chocolate. I’m happy to say the flavours are all true to their names!

This girls are Crazy amazing, the flavors that they come up with are Awesome, delicious and they are so fresh. I love this place.
Plus the owners are super nice and always so good to everysingle customer, very happy and positive.
You must try this place, my favorite flavor is the raspberry with mint and then the ginger chocolate yummmmmm.

This was a nice treat. Quality non-​dairy ice cream for anyone who doesn’t partake in dairy.
I had heard about it from a friend who is lactose intolerant so decided to check it out. Very limited hours so check before you head over. Its pricey but it is a fancy specialty item. I have no problem paying for quality. :) it was around $ 4.50 for a small cup.
I had the lemony lemon and omg it was brilliant. I love all things lemon and it was not overly sweet which was great i like lemon for the tang of it. I was vegan for many years and would have been all over this place if anything like this existed back then.
the person working was in the process of making more so looks like stuff is made on site in small batches as well. again. local, yum and something less heavy than dairy in this hot weather.

Wonderful gelato made from coconut milk rather than dairy milk. A little pricey, but worth it. Flavors are genuine — the «Dark & Handsome Chocolate» is particularly wonderful. Not vegan (they use eggs). They must start with their own coconut milk — the entrance is crowded with the empty husks! Very special and worth seeking out.

My visit here was long overdue. Brilliant flavours, meticulously executed. I fear this place will burn a hole in my pocket.

Awesome place for gelato even for those without food sensitivities. Owner is friendly and passionate about her work. She makes her own coconut milk for her gelato to ensure a quality product! With no preservatives and fresh ingredients I have found my go to place for fantastic gelato:)

The first time I visited Grinning Face Non-​Dairy Gelato, it was just out of curiosity. They are located in my neighbourhood but I already have a favourite ice cream/​gelato place right by my place of business in Leslieville. I don’t have any food sensitivities so I was wondering how this place would compare to the place I considered the best in Toronto.
My first visit left me moderately impressed, I tried a few of the flavours before settling on the coconut. I’ve always loved coconut ice cream so considering that this is the base of their gelato, it’s no surprise that this would be the best flavour. Generally I found the limited ingredients used meant that the gelato lacked the fullness of the iced treat but they were spot on with flavour. If I had food sensitivites, this place would make me very happy.
By the time of my second visit there were new and more adventurous flavours added to the roster. This time I had the blueberry basil gelato. I heard the angels sing. The flavours in this treat were out of this world. Run down and try it. Great job, Grinning Face, you’ll see me again!
