Having just opened relatively recently on the UofT St. George campus, this place is still somewhat of a novelty for non-first year students(I know it was a novelty for me). This facility is definitely geared toward the Varsity athlete, but is still very non-athlete friendly. The main gym in the basement is G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S. The floors are bright and shiny, and the gym itself is incredibly spacious; I am unsure if the gym is open at certain times for recreational sports. The work-out area is divided into 3 tiers; the bottom-most tier has a turf area for some sled pushing(I believe they have 2 sleds), some free weights, a couple of benches, kettle bells and a couple machines. The 2nd tier has more machines(row machine, lat pull downs etc), more free weights, a few ellipticals, a few treadmills and some fancy stair climbers. This, and the top tier also have several squat/bench/deadlift racks; the 2nd tier has 2 – 3 racks and the 3rd tier has 5 – 6(I think) racks. Very lifter friendly. However, the 3rd tier is regularly closed off at certain hours for Varsity training. The larger dumbbells(50kg+) are all housed on the 3rd tier. There are also a few TRX bands on the 2nd and 3rd tiers. The 2nd tier also has a mat/stretching area, with medicine and exercise balls. On the 3rd tier, there is also a(BEAUTIFUL) fitness studio, where drop-in classes are held. The studio is open to members when there isn’t a class going on. There is no track and no pool. The physiotherapy and sports clinic is also housed in this building. TLDR; beautiful facility, lifter friendly, and don’t come for cardio.
