I buy all my camera equipment from them. Not only are the staff helpful and polite, they have the best prices in the city. Also, they have a lot of product on display so you can definitely try before you buy.

Recently had my first visit to the DVShop, I had to pick up an LED light, and a few other additional items for a video shoot I was doing in Vegas the following week, anyway long story short I bought a hotshoe adapter that I was told would work with my Sony A77DSLR, but when I got home and tried to fit it, no luck, I called the store explained the issue and travelled back out to the Junction a second time to pick up the Videosmith handle, which looked like a pretty cool piece of kit, anyway when I got home I tried to test mount the handle to my tripod, and for some reason mounting hole for the tripod plate would not allow me to screw the tripod plate all the way in, at this point I’m getting pretty pissed off with the whole experience, so once again I call back to the DVShop spoke with the sales person who sold it to me, I explain to him to him the problem, and the fact that I have to be on a plane to Vegas in 2 hours, and that there is no way I am travelling back down to his shop to exchange it again, he suggests he could send a Taxi to my place with the replacement unit, I said excellent, lets do that, unfortunately his boss would not allow that, I asked to speak to the owner of the store, I explained the situation to the owner and that for my first experience shopping at DVShop that I was very disappointed, and if he didn’t do what was right, I would never shop there again. He asked for my number and told me he would call me back. 5 mins later owner calls back and says that the employee is going to drive the replacement unit to me himself, I was ecstatic!!! when the employee showed up he brought 2 of the same unit to ensure that I would be satisfied. this is what customer service is all about!

This place has some of the best prices in the city and their website is terrific and totally informative. They do make the effort to only stock pretty good equipment and leave the junk behind. It’s worth driving out to the Junction to get the prices alone. That being said, it’s the kind of place you’d rather just pop in to, buy your stuff, and leave. On good days, the service is polite and helpful — but on the worst days, it reeks of memories of trying to check out equipment from your local film-school cage. I think they must make a lot of their business through online or big company orders because they really aren’t trying to be nice to semi-professionals or artists at all. And while they have a pretty good grasp of their equipment, they can’t necessarily answer questions that go beyond the printed specs of the cameras(i.e. underscan/overscan of LCD monitors). In addition, in terms of décor, the place could use a serious makeover. Who puts their office desks(overflowing with papers, nonetheless) on the boutique side of the floor? It’s really too bad that their service doesn’t match their website — they would be the best place to go to in the city.
