D Square Salon

Is this David the same person? He must really turn it up for his full-​price customers. Maybe it’s because I came in with a Unilocal certificate, but i did not get the stellar «David» experience everyone is talking about. When I came in, absolutely no one greeted me. He was at the front desk on the phone and didn’t even LOOK at me. He got off the phone and still didn’t address me. Meanwhile, there is a sweeping/​helper girl who is not sweeping or doing anything who just stands far enough away and turns her head away from me. Am I invisible? Why don’t I have this superpower when I need it?
So, I’ve been there 10 minutes and no one has offered to take my heavy winter coat, get me a water or even tell me to «please have a seat.» I toss my coat across the chairs and hope someone will get the clue. Nope. These people are clueless.
A middle-​aged woman comes in and David immediately starts joking and flirting with her — still, he doesn’t even say a «hello» to me. I ask the woman if she likes it here and she raves about how fantastic David is… Why bother offering a half-​price haircut deal if you don’t want to meet/​deal with/​acquire new customers?
I finally go to the woman who is doing nothing and ask her if she can take my coat and if I can have a water. She seems shocked out of a spell, but smiles and does what I ask — nothing more. It’s been about a 25 minute (very uncomfortable) wait, which is ridiculous for a place where the cheapest cut are $ 60 – 80, and I’m on the verge of just walking out.
Finally, my stylist, Sarah, is finished with her client. She rushes over to me and says she’s almost done and will be right with me. So, apparently some people are immune to the effects of my invisibility cloak — that’s nice to see.
Sarah to the rescue! This stylist is immediately friendly, bubbly and warm. Before long we are chatting and laughing. She seems to have a really solid understanding of my fine hair and we come up with a game plan together. The cut and shampoo is quick, quick, quick. It’s looking really good when we’re nearing the blow-​dry. This is where Sarah saves this place. I am not sure if she does this because she realizes I’ve waited a long time, or if it’s just because she loves to have fun with hair, but either way, she actually ends up styling me with a curling iron — something I am incapable of doing myself. So, I actually got a real style done along with the cut. I gave her a tip of what would have been the full amount and left, smiling and headed to my Local to show off my shiny new curls.
I’m hesitant to go back because of the terrible front desk service, but Sarah has given me the best cut I’ve had in this neighbourhood, and her warm, cheery vibe makes up for the other sullen staff. Thanks for saving the day!

Thought I’d give this salon a try after reading the rave reviews. Loved the final result David produced and more. Incredibly skilled and talented especially given I had came in to have my back alley hair cut (was actually cut a few days ago) fixed. Was able to book an appointment through the online site (via Unilocal) which is really helpful instead of waiting for when the salon opens. Was a little late (since I’ve an 8mth old baby) but David was extremely accommodating and was still able to take us in. He was able to help us up the stairs (quite steep) to the second floor. He sat me down where he listened to what I wanted (maintain the same length but add texture and layers). End result was an AMAZING job well done which wasn’t easy, given that David had to work with (my butchered hair). I’ve been looking for a salonist for a while, and now I’ve found myself a keeper.

Really love my cut :) Thank you David for bringing my hair back to life! One of the better experiences I’ve ever had a salon. Definitely recommend this Salon.

I’m new to Toronto and was a little scared when looking for a new salon but I’m really happy I chose Dsquared. My first appointment with the salon’s owner David, who did full highlights and a cut was impressive to say the least and possibly one of the best experiences I’ve ever had at a salon. David was very knowledgable and provided a great consultation on what would work for my hair and the options I had for going lighter. He also provided excellent insight on what type of colour and style would suit me. The salon itself was very clean and chic and all the staff were courteous and polite. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a knowledgable and professional hair stylist – BOOK WITH DAVID!

Loved everything about my visit. David was professional, knowledgeable and extremely talented. This will definitely be my salon for years to come.

It’s always a little scary trying out a new salon, the staff made me feel welcome as soon as I arrived, Sara did an amazing job on my hair and even suggested I make a few changes which I LOVE ! I have been telling all my friends to make appointments at D Squared !

I started working in the area, and one day decided to get my hair cleaned-​up. I am very picky, and since I wear extensions, I need someone who actually knows hair extensions, and how to cut them properly! David, is great at all of that1 I generally get my boyfriend to install my hair, and then run to David to get him to blend them in! LOL. He never judges the fact that I get my hair done by my boyfriend, and he always styles my hair so nicelly, that I am always a little sad to have to wash it, a few days after :)

I found this salon after googling Yonge & Eglington hair salons, I’m new to the area and desperately needed my roots done. It was super easy to make an appointment, they saw me right away and Sara did an amazing job matching my color. I’ll definitely be going back and telling my friends to do the same.

I came to D Square with a Groupon and I have been looking for a new hairdresser for a while now. After trying many salons and buying groupons to try different salons I finally found the one for me.
My stylist Sarah was amazing, she sat me down and give me two options for what to do with my hair. I listened to her and I have never been happier. He haircut she gave me was amazing. I have never received so many compliments on a haircut before. She was friendly very detail orientated and a pleasure.
I found my stylist finally!
