Honestly, if you’re a 36 jacket or smaller, this is the place. Big selection, the staff are appropriately friendly and helpful, they really know their stuff, and the turnaround time on tailoring is quick(if that’s ever a consideration). This may be the only place where a guy who’s slighter of frame gets to have the same kind of suit shopping experience that more average sized guys probably get everywhere else. And you don’t have to pay a premium for it. I bought my three favourite suits at their Avenue Rd. location a decade ago and was totally impressed, but this time around I thought I’d try my luck at the«regular» stores — to no avail. While the staff did their best, rarely did any other store stock more than a couple of items in my size, and I didn’t like the idea of having to wait for them to special order stuff in. Here, I asked for suits in a more«contemporary» cut and the amiable, knowledgeable salesperson(Shelley) was able to show me at least 5 different options, from Boss to Tiger of Sweden, in several colours. The actual measurements and pinning-up are done by the tailor who does the alterations, and they even cut my new belt to measure before I tried it on(he said, «If I get it wrong and you don’t buy it, that’s our problem!» — imagine that!). If something didn’t look quite right, they were vocal about it – I trusted their input. Naturally, after I was done picking suits, they did suggest shirts, belts, and shoes, but didn’t apply any upsell pressure(as a couple of Google reviews have suggested). I don’t hesitate to recommend them and will definitely be shopping here again.

I’m not a short man, but I have short friends who aren’t towering at 6′. They come and shop here for their suits, and love it. They’re just so friendly, extremely helpful, with a great range of jackets, pants and everything for the shorter guy. It can be hard to find things, and this is the place for it. Also, they have a nice selection of belts, ties and even socks! Just ask and you shall receive. They’re super nice here.

These guys are out to lunch, as are many other reviewers of this shop, it seems. $ 200 is NOT a reasonable price to pay when you ask for the cheapest pair of jeans in the store.

I had an incredible experience at Brown’s. I went to Brown’s looking for nice shoes to wear to my wedding after striking out at all of the major shoe stores elsewhere in the city. I’m 5’7″ with size 7 shoes normally, but all the high end brands seem to make them a little bigger so I needed a 6.5 or 6. As soon as I walked in I was asked by Andrew, one of the sales staff, if I needed any help. He gave us any information we wanted to know about the store and the shoes I was trying on. Since I came in shorts he offered a pair of charcoal suit pants(to match the suit I already have for the wedding) so I could see how the shoes looked with suit pants. He also helped find a matching belt and a nice shirt to bring everything together. They also took all of my measurements to put in my client file so that when I come back any of the staff will be able to find what I’m looking for quickly. If you’re 5’8″ or under and are tired of scouring the city for reasonably-fitting clothes, make your way to Brown’s. Not only do they have shoe sizes that will fit, but their shirts/suits/etc are all made to be properly proportioned instead of having a shirt that is the right length, but too wide and with baggy armpits. Highly Recommended.

If you’re short and don’t mind spending money on nice things, this is the best place in the city to buy clothes. Service is great, their clothes are great, the only conceivable knock on the place is that it’s expensive — but it’s expensive because it’s out of this world awesome. Edit: FYI $ 200 for pair of jeans is reasonable when it’s the best pair you’ll ever have.

Previous I had to wear a suit everyday for work, and it was always difficult finding a store with a good selection of suits my size(38 Short). I’ve shopped at most of the menswear stores including Harry Rosen, and Holts, and always found there selection for 38S very limited. In contrast it felt like the entire inventory at Brown’s was made for me… here is my review: Service: Armando is an incredible salesmen — helped me choose the right cut, and fabric for my suit, as well as a tie and pocket square. He is very knowledgeable, and did not pressure me at all. I look forward to his help on my next purchase. They also did a great job with the alternations. I needed it for a wedding and they were very quick to make the alterations. Upon checking the alterations, I noticed we missed some initial adjustments on the pants and they were very quick to turn that work around as well. Selection: Amazing for guys my size — Usually it’s difficult to find stuff at other stores that I would want to buy — at browns I had to restrain myself as there were several suits and a couple of sport coats that I would love to have — I ended up buying a 3 piece Hugo Boss suit that is now easily my favorite suit in my closet Pricing: I got my suit on sales and it was a very good price — I later saw the same suit at the Hugo Boss Outlet in Vaughn Mills, and Brown’s was still less expensive Parking: I park at the Green P behind the KFC

After years of putting it off, a friend’s impending wedding forced me to go buy a decent suit. I wanted to do it with a minimum of fuss, but being short and skinny, I knew it would be a challenge to find something suitable(excuse the pun) at most stores and so I decided to go make Brown’s my first stop. When I first started to look at the suits I definitely had some sticker shock; most seemed to start at around $ 500, which I know is standard for quality suits but which is still a lot of money for someone without very much income. Luckily they were having a sale, and the only discounted black suit left was in my size. Including a $ 35 fee for some minor alterations(usually free, but not on items on sale) and with taxes, I paid $ 435 for a really nice suit. Some words about the staff: for various reasons I was nervous going into Brown’s, but couldn’t have asked for better service. Upon entering one of the salesmen, Armando, greeted us(my partner accompanied me) and told us to let him know if we needed any help. After it became clear that we were a bit overwhelmed he approached us once again, and without pressuring me, suggested I try on the suit I eventually purchased; he intervened just enough without being overbearing. I do wish they had some slightly less pricey options; if it hadn’t been for the sale I probably would have walked out empty-handed.
