Non pretentious, no dress code, no inflated prices and no pounding dance music. Just have fun with the gang playing pool. The owner is friendly, drinks are cheap and lots of tables. Get there early on the weekends then you can go clubbing.

Very chill here. Went for a friends bday and had a great time! It used to be an all men’s club and it definitely feels like it! Limited drink selection but for very fair price. Love the music they play, a lot of oldies. I def will go back

Low table prices. Plenty of tables, all in good shape. Music that isn’t so loud as to intrude on your conversation. What more do you need? Definitely my go-to place for pool in the city.

Great pool hall. Always have fun when I go. Dennis, the guy who runs the place is a great character, chef and host. It’s nice and cheap, there’s decent, clean pub grub, wifi, tables for cards and whatnot as well as a bunch of full size snooker tables and regular pool tables, all in good condition and frequently re-felted. Plus nobody there is ever a dick if you suck at pool. Only thing is, the bathrooms aren’t in great shape, not disgusting, just needs a little TLC. Go anytime, be polite, don’t mess with the tables, tip well and you’ll always have a great time.

Not bad place to go, just for a place to play some billiards. Game time is cheap and drinks are good.

Although walking up the stairs it smelt like toilet… it was pleasantly surprised with a great time playing pool with friends on a Thursday evening. There’s snooker tables and 8 ball tables. It seems intimidating when you first walk in, but it’s friendly, and seems like a good alternative than trying to compete with people at a bar for a pool table. If you squint your eyes, you might be able to see the smoke clouds that used to line the ceiling. But it’s nice that all that is gone. They have a full bar, with beers.

Love the annex. I visit from new jersey to see my boyfriend all the time, and this is one of our go to places to have some fun, and some competition! I even learned how to play snooker here! Never heard of it, then decided what the heck let’s try! All in all a nice clean place, sometimes you get some goons that are obnoxious but they are pretty good about asking people to chill out.

This is a great pool player’s pool hall. It’s a bit odd that you don’t see more ‘serious’ players; the dominant clientele seems to be kids on dates, but that’s true of all the pool halls around downtown. The rates are the best I’ve found($ 3.50/hr weekends, $ 7/hr weekdays). They have 8 full size Brunswick tables for pool and 8 snooker tables, and it’s really only busy on weekends after 9 or so. I’ve only had to wait for a table once. The pool tables are in decent shape, some dodgy rolls and dead rails but nothing disastrous. Since it’s an actual pool hall there’s no point in coming here if you’re not playing, but their food and drink is surprisingly good for it and well-priced. Sandwich and fries will set you back about $ 6, $ 3.50-$ 4 for a bottle of beer. Ambience here beats VIP Billiards hands down; prices beat the otherwise-lovely Charlotte Room. The hall at the Rivoli is a good comparison, the tables are in similar shape, but Annex wins because Rivoli has a full bar and loud music that causes commotion in the pool hall in the evenings. At Annex the music is 97.3(the 80s station) at a tastefully low volume, which is A-OK with me. Slightly better maintenance on the tables and more actual pool players would make this a top tier pool hall. As it is, it’s good enough to be my go-to accessible-by-subway place.
