HORRIBLE «CUPPING» WOULD WRECK YOUR BACK!
This review is about the female acupuncturist named Amy. She can’t explain how or why each procedure is done. She would repeat something about «circulation.» She does the needles as any other acupuncture treatment, then the rest is «cupping» only. Cupping starts with (without any warning) poking an area of your back about ten times with a needle, which hurts. She then presses a cup onto the area and sucks the air out many times with a pump, and it hurts a LOT! The suction strength feels like ten times harder than the traditional way where they use a flame to create vacuum. The cup is left for about 30 sec. and the blood comes out. She then takes the cup off and wipes the blood off. She repeats this so quickly using 5 – 6 cups at a time, all over your back from shoulder to hip, 2 – 3 times. I told her several times that it hurts way too much, and she just said it’s normal. The form you sign at the beginning mentions that there will be some bruising that will go away in several days. Well my back looked like I was beaten with round object very badly, and around my shoulder bones felt and looked like I got hit with a hard stick several times. It’s been 1&½ weeks, and I still have dark red/​purple spots all over my back and shoulders. After the ordeal, there was no improvement on my initial neck pain.

This clinic is located inside T&T Supermarket on 100 Ave in Surrey. It is family run. His Wife works as the receptionist and is very nice. Don’t be put off by the location’s proximity to the food court. Doctor Edward (first name, like Dr. Phil) specializes in injuries: sports, car accidents and the like. If you need herbal medicine or illness treatment there is another acupuncturist next door that does that.
Initially I came here for problems with my neck after physiotherapy didn’t help. He is very friendly and puts you at ease. His English isn’t the best but he speaks it well enough. Longer needles were used with guides. it was completely painless. I was very impressed with that. In most of my sessions the needles would last about 15 minutes.
After needles the next step was always Chinese massage and acupressure. I noticed quite a difference between this and western style therapy. I find Chinese style gets a bit deeper. I will admit some of it hurt… a lot. But not in a way that felt dangerous or damaging. Very intense stretching involved here. Results after the stretching were immediate.
I refer all my friends to this clinic. At the time of this writing one session costs $ 45 and lasts about 45 minutes.
When your session is done you can get bubble tea right across from the clinic. Location, Location, Location!
