Completely worth it! I’m no expert on Indian food, so I won’t pretend to know what is authentic. But I do recognize quality and flavor! This is certainly better by far than their competition south on Broadmoor! My wife and I have been sutting on a $ 10″ gift certificate to Ashoka for quite some time. Tonight a boo-boo in our kitchen at home seemed like the perfect excuse to take the kids and give it a go. Due to the gift certificate, we ordered much more than we usually would so as to give it all a fair shake, and het the full experience. All four of us ordered the buffet. We also ordered Mango Chicken and Curried Shrimp(knowing we’d be eating mostly the buffet, and taking the main courses home). Everything was delicious. The Naan is certainly much more crisp than others I’ve had, but the flavor was there. Everything was fresh. Flavourfull, and delicious. We’ll be back for sure!

The food was good, the service was great and the atmosphere very cosy… if you are looking for good clean indian food, this is the place.

Fantastic buffet. They aren’t afraid to add spice to dishes. Best Indian food in Sherwood Park! The décor is very nice as is the service. My only complaint is the lacking beer selection. I was expecting a few Asian brands listed but there were none.

Ashoka is a new Indian restaurant that has been open in Sherwood Park for just under two months. The décor is not at all what you would expect from a typical Indian restaurant. It is very chic, with dark woods and high ceilings, and a gorgeous custom wine wall behind the bar. The only thing I don’t like about the visuals is THETV’S! If you ever read my reviews, you know this is a pet peeve of mine anywhere expect in a sports bar or lounge. It is so distracting in an otherwise beautiful restaurant. I don’t even like sports but throughout my meal my eyes kept drifting to the basketball AND hockey games that were on the multiple TVs. Onto the important stuff, the food. Prices were very reasonable. We started off with a samosa plate($ 8, one each of veggie, beef and chicken) and fish pakoras($ 8). The samosas were very big and came with a hot dipping sauce. The veggie was my favourite. The fish pakoras and mint sauce were delectable and I wanted to keep stealing bites. For our mains I had the chicken korma($ 16) and my husband had the tandoori shrimp($ 14). He actually ordered the tandoori fish, but the shrimp were so good that it wasn’t a problem. My curry was creamy, spicy, the chicken was tender… I loved it. Wipe it all up with chewy garlic naan and it was perfect. There is a nice looking wine menu but we didn’t try anything that night. They also do a daily lunch buffet. My in-laws have lived in Sherwood Park since 2002 and I’ve dined in many of the restaurants out there, and to be honest I don’t get excited when I have to go to a restaurant in ShPk. However, Ashoka is probably the best restaurant I’ve been to in the city in the past 12 years. I would definitely recommend it and look forward to returning.
