The Birchmount Tavern

This place is hilar!!!
I normally rarely venture out of the downtown core, but on Saturday night I was nearby Birchmount checking out my boy’s Sports Complex next door. We had a couple hours to kill and this was the only bar within a stone’s throw.
Cover on a Saturday night = $ 5. Price of drinks = quite cheap. Selection of beer = very terrible (only Coors Light and Canadian on tap? wtf), stick to spirits.
Upon entering it’s actually very spacious. There is a dancefloor at the far end with live DJ. There’s also 6 – 7 pool tables set up all with ample space around them, plus another area with the bar and more standing room.
The clientele, aherm, well, it’s a random area in Scarborough, what can I say? There were a lot of people I wanted to take secret iPhone cam shots of. Old creepy dudes and some mullet men, but there were also a lot of 20 somethings out on the hunt. (If I had come here with girls only i would have been quite scared to be honest).
The music, however, was fantastic and I had a good time drinking vodka cokes and belting out lyrics and giggling at the creepies!

This is my local so I’m here once in a blue moon. It’s nice to see old friends but overall the place is really… meh. The single girls there tend to be old or hideously obese and the dancefloor rarely gets busy for more than 15 minutes at a time. There’s sod-​all choice of beer on tap (coors light and canadian? Really?) and the bouncers can be really rude and aggressive. On the plus side, there’s not many «clubs» in Scarborough so it’s refreshing to see a place that has a bit of nightlife, and there aren’t many gangbangers which puts it heads and tails above other scarborough gang-​ridden clubs like «Rumours» or «Stone Cottage». Ultimately, there’s a reason there are no clubs in Scarborough and whilst it’s arguable that the Birchmount is the best in Scarborough, that’s very faint praise. Go with the guys to watch the UFC on a Sunday night, if you’re looking for a good club experience, swallow back that $ 40 cab ride and go downtown. A huge amount of pool tables, giant screens, and loud sound system provide plenty of distractions. A real blue-​collar white-​trash kind of place. Stay well away from the nearby «Clarendon WIldflowers» bar as it’s been home to a few murders this year.

We had a better time than expected at the Birchmount. Only Coors Light and on tap.
Good mixture of music & ages. It didn’t get busy until 11ish. Met some new friends :)
