Nothing like false promises of an assembled table for pick up. We were told to call on a certain day and be assigned a pick up time at the warehouse. I waited around until the late afternoon assigned time only to find a box of pieces for me to assemble. If I wanted the Ikea experience, why did I have to wait 3 days to pick up a box of pieces. Why was I told to wait a few days for warehouse staff to assemble it?
We complained to the sales associate. The sales associate apologized and thought we would take the table regardless if it was assembled or not. Basically, the sales associated lied to get the sale.
Customer service was good until the sale was completed. Do not count on the sales associate honouring promises of assembled furniture. Plus, why the warehouse having to take days to dig out a box for you? I showed up at the warehouse, the warehouse person looked at the invoice and took 5 minutes to find the table. We could have just showed up the day we purchased the table and spend the weekend recreating the built it yourself experience. I am more upset at the lying than the self assembly. Sales associate should have been more honest.
We should have paid the $ 100 delivery option. Maybe that would have actually included assembly?

We bought three bar stools from this location. They have some stylish and modern designs with unique pieces. These stools were much nicer than the white, modern ones we found at Ikea, and ended up being cheaper. Go figure!
The sales staff was friendly and helpful without being pushy. We had a special request and he tried his best to accommodate us. He also offered us tips regarding the assembly of the stools. We can’t comment on the delivery service because we came back to pick up our items, but the process was easy. It was pouring rain when we came to pick them up, and the staff still helped to carry the boxes to our car.
I would definitely shop here again!

Scandesigns was amazing!!! Their staff was very attentive to my needs. I really liked their suggestions and left feeling cared for. It was a really great experience from top to bottom! I can’t wait to sit on my new 625 sectional!

i bought a kitchen table and after one week the table had stains on it from soup. i called and they would not do anything about it, so i was left with a crap 800 dollar table. they said i should cover it with a table cloth, if i was to do that i might as well of bought a second hand one from craigslist for 20 bucks. the service is so awful i will never set foot in the shop and i tell everyone to keep away. scan designs should be ashamed and to the owner you should shut down!!!

The service there is horrible!!! I will never buy anything there again! I bought a sofabed and payed for delivery 75 dollars. When the date of the delivery was approaching I called the store myself (they didn’t call me) and was told the time of the delivery. The time was absolutely inconvenient for me. When I told that I need another time, they said that they scheduled everything already and can’t change it. So for my money I have to manage somehow change my work schedule and be at home when it is convenient for them! After long debates over the phone they changed the delivery time finally.
Unfortunately such battle was a waste of time because the sofabed was of horrible quality and I had to return it to the store. My back was killing me. I don’t know who will be able to sleep on it. They do not give you money back, only store credit. And of course they never said anything when I was paying.
Now I have a store credit but I don’t know how to use it because their furniture is of horrible quality and costs a fortune. Coffee tables starting from 500 $.

And so my search for new contemporary furniture continued…
The selection they have here is standard: Couches, coffee tables, media systems, bookcases, dining sets and bedroom sets. Not too many decorative ornaments or figurines. If you’re looking for a lava lamp or some of the hottest trends in interior design, then this would not be the place to go. On the other hand, if you know exactly what you want from them (i.e. know that for a fact that they are a retailer for a certain brand), then it’s a good place to go for a good price.
Obviously, furniture will always be sold to you at a marked up price. But I find that if you show the sales rep here that you are serious about buying a certain piece (or pieces for that matter), these sales are pretty good about helping you get your price (within reason).
We bought a custom-​order Skovby dining set (oak, made in Denmark) for at least 40% less than the price I was told to be their best at Inspiration furniture store. Even got them to throw in free delivery. Service was great and we were very pleased with the delivery and service: On schedule and the delivery guys even made sure to help me check each piece for damages before leaving.
They always have items on sale and there is plenty of parking spaces to make it an easy drop-​by just to check things out!

I had a long experience buying a dresser that was ultimately returned (see below).
Here’s the bottom line:
ScanDesign offers a medium price-​point range that neither offers the quality of a high-​end shop, nor the cheapness of a place like IKEA. In my experience you’d be better off spending less (and expecting less) or spending more and getting the quality you expect.

1. Purchased dresser.
2. Received dresser — Drawer rail screws were stripped. Dent in top-​left corner.
3. Returned dresser with intent to immediately pick up replacement– noticed replacement had same problem. Was told another replacement would be ordered.
4. Received dresser — Still not built well. I can’t prove it, but it really looks like the 1^st dresser (same dent in top-​left) and a lot of work to (ineffectively) stabilize the drawer rails.
(This back and forth took over a month)
I called the owner, said it was very possible that I just had bad luck, but that I didn’t want another replacement, I just wanted a refund.
I was told that I could have in-​store credit (no thanks) or pay a 20% restocking fee.
A long conversation latter it was agreed that I would pay $ 65 for a truck to pick it up and receive a full refund (at this point, I just wanted it to end, so agreed).

3.5 stars.
This is a chain with a few locations in the Lower Mainland. Contemporary style and OK quality. They have a few lines here like Calligaris and Elite and other design lines are quite clean. Leather is moderate in quality. The pieces aren’t particularly unique but they are a great place to go for a contemporary look and prices are reasonable.
We bought our dining chairs from them a year ago and were happy with the quality and service. Delivery was on schedule and they were very accommodating when there were flaws in a couple of the chairs — replacements were sent out shortly. The showroom has good spacing but not many salespeople… easy to browse here. I continue to stop in periodically.

About five years ago I purchased a sofa and a day bed from these guys. I was very happy with my purchase. At the time I remember them having an excellent assortment of furniture that appealed to the urban modernist.
I stopped in this past weekend to see what they had in store and I was completely let down. For some reason the selection in my opinion is as good as it used to be. For example ask to see the Lark creek collection… nuff said.
I guess however if your that über yuppie couple who are looking to furnish their condo with bedroom suites in an espresso colour then by all means check it out.
