I’m a fan of some battered fish every now and then and this was the best I’ve ever had! Tartar tasted homemade to me… Delicious regardless! The fries were great as well. Malt vinegar always a nice addition to the fries. Uniquely served and a great atmosphere… Outside on the water!!!

My go-to place for fish and chips. When friends and family visit, I always take them to Pajo’s! Light and delicious, tasty fries too.

Had cod and chips today. Not a weekend so no long lines and it came out fast. Just done exactly how I want it. The batter was just the right texture… not crispy and not soggy. The cod was also just right. I wasn’t overcooked to overcome the lack of freshness. Again just right. Chips could be a little bit crispier but can’t really complain. As I «complained» to the server… this makes it really hard to go elsewhere.

I’m giving Pajos 2.5 stars This is no flowery bogus fake review We visited on several occasions Fish is not great. It’s overly greasy. Sometimes undercooked as well. Fries(chips) are overcooked(too brown). Not appealing at all. Portions are small, prices are high. I wouldn’t recommend ordering the halibut because many places serve cod or another fish in its place. You really have to know your halibut to know if you’re getting the real thing The location of pajos is funky which significantly increases people’s like ability much like Bella Gelateria downtown. It’s all hype. Steveston has many(better) places that serve fish and chips. I suggest going elsewhere. This place is not recommended by this fish and chips connoisseur and you owe it to yourself to try the other fish & chips establishments in the area.

My husband and I finally decided to trek down to Steveston on a sunny Saturday afternoon. We were told we absolutely had to try Pajo’s Fish and Chips by many people, so we decided to suck up the long line and try it out. We decided to share the«One of Each» fish and chips, which gives you one piece of cod, one piece of halibut, and one piece of Salmon for $ 18.49. After spending a lot of time waiting in the beating sun, we were super excited to try our fish and chips. Unfortunately, both the fish and the chips were disappointing. I’m someone who really enjoys crispy fish and crispy chips, and these were neither. The batter on all three pieces of fish was soggy and really greasy. The chips, while hand-cut as advertised, were greasy, soggy, and really bland(where’s the salt?). The provided lemon, tartar sauce, and malt vinegar did nothing to cut the grease or improve the taste. I would like to be an optimist, and believe that the food we received was so disappointing because of the lunch rush. However, I’m not willing to spend another $ 20 to find out if this was a one-time fail or if this is the case all the time. Maybe you’ll have a better experience, but I’d recommend going somewhere else for your fish and chips fix.

Delicious! Tried the haddock, crab cakes, and poutine. Beautiful outdoor location looking out on the water. Friendly staff too.

I’ve been here a handful of times over the years, and I will say Pajo’s is very good at the Fish part of Fish & Chips, but they have a long way to go on the Chips part. The Fish is extremely tender, flaky, and encrusted in a nice crispy and easy to eat batter. Lots of hot sauce, lemon, vinegar, or tartar sauce options to dress it as you’d like and the fish is worth going for alone and is some of the best I’ve tried. I typically have gotten the Combo with Halibut, Salmon and Cod, and while it’s all good, the cod is the best I think for fish & chips. Salmon just is a bit odd eaten this way and next time I’ll probably just get the Cod. The fries are pretty bland and soggy and just don’t have much texture, salt or flavor to them. Kind of disappointed spending $ 21 on fish and chips and water and then tossing the all of the limp sad fries away…

My last experience eating their greasy and over fried fish n chips was not worth remembering. This time, we happen to be in the neighborhood and my teenage son had a craving for fish n chips. He ordered a three piece cod with fries. I didn’t order anything. Much to my surprise, it looked really appetizing. My son offered me some of his fries and fish to me and I ate it thinking that it tasted pretty good. The fries were as plain as can be and the fish had a nice crisp batter that was cooked just right. A little pricey for fish n chips, but with the view and decent location, it’s what you would expect to pay compared to other fish n chips places by the dock.

As always Pajos delivers on an authentic fish n chips meal. Hand cut fries and lightly battered cod was more than enough for one person. What I love the most is the choice of fish available. Cod salmon or halibut. Pajos is a great stop for a quick meal. If you are a tourist this place is a great first stop to fuel your Steveston Wharf walk.

Pajo’s has reasonably good reviews so when I was at the wharf I thought I would grab some to take home. I was unfortunately disappointed. The cod was stringy and textured funny. The batter was soggy inside and out. The fries were also soggy and had no salt whatsoever. Suffice to say it was so bad I had to throw it out. When I was in the park another time, I decided to give it a second chance. It was marginally improved. The cod was not oddly textured but the batter and chips were still undercooked. All in all, pretty poor quality food. When I asked to talk to the manager she was super understanding. She gave me my money back and offered me some coupons for more fish and chips which I declined. She assured me that they were attempting to fix the problem with the cod and would look into the cooking of the fish and chips. The response I got from Pajo’s was encouraging and they have some really good features. They offer you a lot of food for the amount that you’re paying and the location is amazing. They also offer multiple different kinds of fish which is a nice plus. I would just like to share my assessment of the food so that people might know what they’re paying for. I’m specifically rating it a 2 because of the attempt to fix the problem.

Give me some Halibut and fries and let me speak a little. There are some very good fish and chip options here. Halibut, Salmon and Cod. For the same price of a Large Halibut and Chips, you can get a large 2.5 pieces Cod and chips with a extra 1.5 pieces of Cod. Another brilliant location in Steveston, with a bird sanctuary nearby. Don’t be surprise if you see a blue jay. Since the fish and chips are both deep fried, you may want to take a quick trek around Steveston to avoid the ITIS!

Went for lunch today and the park location is not that great. Will stand in line for the wharf location next time. Much better.

Fish and chips is their thing and they were great. What was way below par in terms of quality and taste was the Tuna Burger. It was dry and overcooked. Too bad since all dishes should be 4 star as is the fish and chips, therefore only 3 stars here. The ginger beer was tasty though.

Very tasty good-quality food and friendly service. A fairly long wait, right at dinnertime on the weekend. Luckily it was a beautiful evening and we didn’t mind watching the boats go by as we waited for our food.

Came here today with my bf for a little day trip cause it was nice out. Roamed around the area and came here for lunch. We just realize how cheap dates we were. We shared a small fish and chips from this place. I would have to say not bad. But I don’t see how special it was asides from the fact that its located at a tourist attraction area. Loved how their tables were designed. Perfectly for the fish and chips to sit right where the hole is. There wasn’t much of service. But over all a decent place to try out. I’d come back if I was around the neighborhood. Parking around here would be a pain in the butt because majority of it would be paid parking asides from the 2 hr free street parking. Yes, they do give you tickets if you park longer(saw it on someone’s car). Price is decent.

Mmm… love fish and chips! I don’t always eat fish n chips, but when I do I eat Pajos! I’ve been to the Rocky Point(Port Moody) location before but that’s a bit far for me, so one of the two Steveston locations works better. This review is regarding the Garry Point Park location. I actually like this spot better than the wharf one because it is usually less busy. Less busy means less line-up, means me gets ma food faster! The fish is tasty and not overly greasy, the fries are decent, and good portion sizes. Generally decent service but one time a girl gave me a touch of snark when I brought my drink back because they gave me the wrong kind«it took you that long to notice»…hey I didn’t take a sip for a few minutes because I was busy scarfing down the fish okay! That aside, the great view by the water makes this a great spot to have lunch then go for a nice long walk after.

It was super busy here for the first day of the tall ship festival. So we went into town to the other Pajos which wasn’t nearly as busy and just as good!

The fish is fresh, flakey and soft with an even coating of light fluffy batter freshly fried. The fries are pretty generic though, nothing too special unless they’re a new batch. Though more pricey, I prefer the halibut over the other choices of salmon or cod because it’s a softer, lighter, better tasting fish. Between me and my friend: Large halibut fish(2.5 pieces) and chips: ~$ 13 Small halibut fish only(1.5 pieces): ~$ 7 Large peach drink: ~$ 2.60 Sadly, I have had bad moments with Pajo’s where their fish are a bit small and dry and the batter is thick and there are huge fried chunks of it on my fish. However, Pajo’s never fails — the combination of fresh sea air, shimmering waters, sun, family and friends, and food. it’s just fab.

I think eating here gives you the package deal: hot, piping fish and chips served in a newspaper cone that fits nicely into the pre-cut holes in the picnic benches by the water(nice touch!), cooled by the ocean breeze on a sunny day and watching the waves roll by. The fish is pretty good, too. I had the halibut which I found nice and moist(hard not to be when you’ve just pulled it out of a bin of hot oil), but their coup was being able to execute an even, crispy batter that wasn’t too thick and doughy, nor completely sodden with grease. Plenty of fish to be found in my serving as well, so Pajo’s came out a winner this time around!

I had a better experience at this one compared to Pajo’s on the wharf. Wharf review — Decided to try out this location after biking to the park — quieter and less of a wait time. The prices were also higher so I’m not sure if there’s been a price increase since I was last at the wharf location a couple of months ago, or if the locations vary in price. My previous small F&C came to under $ 8 with tax, and this time it was closer to $ 9 with tax. Friendly service at this location and I actually got fish in my F&C this time — woohoo! At the other location, I had a horrible batter and chips experience. This was much better with a nice crisp batter and warm cod on the inside. Fries were fresh cut. Hubby’s were from an older batch whereas mine were piping hot. Hubby’s burger was excellent. I also had their crab cake included with a promotional coupon — DEFINITELY skippable. If you’re expecting a traditional crab cake, this is NOT it. Strange texture with a mix of fish inside and odd tasting. Stick with the classic menu when you’re here. I’m still partial to Dave’s F&C with the light batter on Moncton, but I think Pajo’s does a lot more advertising and has more of the tourist market.
