I’ve done all the rooms here except Black Swan. I love how Freeing Canada incorporates technology into their rooms making them very immersive and realistic.

Great staff, nice facilities, nice décor but I was underwhelmed by the rooms. Location: They are located right next to the supermarket and up a flight of stairs. I’m not sure if there’s an elevator so I suggest to call and ask, if you mobility issues. It is a beautiful facility(I would love to live there!) with lots of room, great seating and tables, and excellent closets to lock up valuables. They also have snacks for additional cost(popcorn is free!) and a decent collection of boardgames. I will say though, it was very very cold, so bring a sweater. Staff: When you walk in you are greeted at the reception. I was already unsure about the rooms because it is pricier than a lot of the other rooms I had been to. But the staff member told us about their discount if you check in on Facebook, so that helped a little bit. They are very approachable and seem willing to chat if you are inclined to do so. Rooms: We did two rooms, Black Swan and Painter’s Murder, since we were trying to kill time before our dinner plans. This was one of the few places we could find with available rooms. The rooms are adorned with items very much in line with the theme. They also take a little bit of a different approach than other places and ask you to complete a mission rather than just escaping. Everything sounds great, so why the mediocre rating? Because the room was quite easy with very simple locks. This is one of the only places where I didn’t feel any urgency to get out. I thought maybe it was just the first room and tried another but I felt the same: underwhelmed. I would be concerned for larger parties because there didn’t seem to be much to do(we were a party of two). Given the price I was expecting there to be possibly be more technology or gadgets than there was. Also the rooms are only mostly 45 minutes(I think one was 60 minutes), so for the price I felt there was a lot more to be desired. Now I will say these two rooms are their easier rooms, so maybe the other ones are better? So overall, for the prices they charge, I was expecting more. Granted, this is Richmond Hill so the price isn’t completely unreasonable. I will leave off saying they have excellent potential and I’m willing to give them another shot if the situation arises.

This is definitely one of my favorite facilities. They have a spacious and well decorated lobby with a collection of popular boardgames that are free to play. I’ve done almost all of their rooms now and all of them have been fun and very different from each other. The puzzles are creative and didn’t require any huge leaps of logic. The rooms are nicely decorated and most of the have multiple rooms. I do prefer their multi-room escape rooms over their single rooms. The only real complaint I have is that most of their rooms are 45 minutes(I prefer one hour rooms). They do have one 60 minute room at the moment, which is Egyptian themed, and it is one of the most impressive rooms I’ve played. I’ve done many escape rooms and many pyramid/temple themed rooms at other facilities but this is the only one that had every single puzzle fit the theme. I was told, however, that they plan to change many of their rooms to 60 minute rooms. Oh and also their storylines don’t make much sense but I heard they’re updating those as well. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next!

I went to Freeing Canada for my corporate event. It was a great experience and great team building event ever, we had a very good time. I’ll definitely come back with my friends.

I went to Freeing Canada Station recently and had a great time. I had been to some other rooms before, but this was definitely a step up from what I had experienced before. At the other places, we would just have to solve random puzzles that didn’t really have anything to do with the storyline to open locked boxes and get the next clue. One place that we visited was mostly a bare room with just a chest in it! We weren’t even offered a storyline! The room that we tried here(Unmask) was amazingly decorated to suit the theme and was more high-tech than I had anticipated so I was very pleasantly surprised. My group of 5 worked well together and although it was challenging, we actually escaped! Freeing is a new place so we actually beat the top time… until 4 hours later when another team came and beat us. LOL I feel that at Freeing, they’ve made the rooms so that they aren’t unbeatable within the allotted time given. I feel that some of the other places that I’ve been to were designed so that people can’t really escape and it can get frustrating. Here, you will be challenged for sure, but it’s possible to escape(because the clues aren’t super random) so that you feel a sense of accomplishment. The Service: The service was excellent! We were greeted right when we got in, and everyone was very friendly. We were offered free soft drinks or coffee by liking them on FB. We got there a bit early and enjoyed the freshly popped free popcorn as well. YUM! Because we went there for a friend’s birthday, we brought some cupcakes from NomNom Custom Cakes and were surprised to see that they sold them there as well! Those were some really delicious cupcakes. They don’t skimp on the yummy frosting! If you love cupcakes like I do, then you should really try one while you’re there! The Atmosphere: To our surprise, we stayed there for another 4 hours after the escape room. The lounge is a really great place to hang out. We ended up playing a few board games and had a blast. We didn’t even notice the time go by. The place is clean, and comfortable. The décor is modern, but inviting. The owners came up to us a few times and chatted with us. We felt very welcome. It would have been perfect if they had some more food or drinks for us to munch on. We ended up leaving when we got hungry enough for dinner. lol Also, as I mentioned before, the décor inside the room was amazing. Really sets the stage for the game, and puts you in the right mindset. The Verdict: I highly recommend Freeing to anyone who’s looking to try an escape room. You won’t be disappointed. We are going to be back to do Mission Incredible(the room with the lasers.) I also heard that they are opening a new room that has something to do with pyramids and that sounds pretty cool too.

Really fun escape game! We tried the Black Swan room and it was mostly physical locks and less tech. They have discount if you come back for an incomplete game. One hint only!

Our group of 4 were just driving around thinking of places to go. We tried calling other escape games in the area, but no luck of availability. Thankfully, we came across Freeing Canada Station thanks to the ads we saw on Facebook. Gave them a call, and we were able to come in 30 minutes after for a game! I’m assuming we were able to get in so quickly due to this place being fairly new… so customers haven’t picked up yet. There is no business sign along Yonge street like the other business in the plaza, so we weren’t too sure if we found the right location but google maps told us to go where Party City is. It’s actually right next to the T&T rather than Party City. Entrance is on the side. Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff that offered us free popcorn. They also have drinks and snacks to purchase. If you like and/or check-in on Facebook they also give you a free pop. There are also couches, tables, and boardgames to play with before or after. Lastly, there are lockers for us to leave extra jackets, purses, and phones, and we were able to hold the key while we played the game. Now for the actual escape game. We played the Unmask. Prior to entering the room, the staff gave us blackout glasses for us to wear. Wasn’t too sure if it was just for our room or they do it for all the rooms, but I found it helpful since sometimes I don’t pay attention to the story-line behind the room cause I’m already busy looking around lol. The story-lines are also pre-recorded. I don’t want to give away too much things about the room for anyone that hasn’t played yet but honestly, THISGAMEISAMAZING! Although we were not able to escape, we all had so much fun and thought the concept was amazing! For those who get scared easily, this room may freak you out a little. I know it did for us considering we had a group that consisted of 3 girls and 1 guy, and all of us girls kept following the guy around cause we were too scared to be alone haha. Sadly, our black light started to die near the end of our time, but I’m not going to take away any stars because of that. We kind of black lighted the whole room so it might have been our fault haha. Also, we weren’t too sure what to do with some items… All in all, we had so much fun and look forward to going back again! We saw that there was a room with lasers and you have to get through it without«triggering the alarm». Can’t wait to go back and try that room!

I was hesitant to try another escape room after my first experience. but decided not to let it stop me. My friends told me about a really cool room at Freeing Canada that had lasers and stuff, and the mission was the steal the diamond and thought that sounded pretty cool. Freeing Canada is a franchised escape room experience with locations in BC, Hong Kong, Taiwan and more. The Toronto location is located in the T&T plaza at Yonge and Weldrick in Richmond Hill — right beside the T&T there. The space is large and clean and decorated nicely. You can tell there was a lot of thought put into the place(unlike the previous escape room I’ve tried — see my review on Locked In). Upon walking in, you will find an abundance of lounge seating and tables and a bunch of board games to play while you wait(or after you’ve played). There’s also a café area with drinks and cupcakes to purchase. The staff greeted us and we were taken care of right away. We signed waivers and were offered some free popcorn too. After we signed waivers, we were brought to our themed room. The quality of the props inside of the room was amazing. They did not spare any expenses here. The lasers itself was a really cool concept too. The clues and traps were all so high-tech! I was pretty impressed. The fluidity of the clues and story was really great also, our group wasn’t able to escape, but we had a blast nonetheless. We definitely want to go back and try the other rooms, and cannot wait for the new room to open so we can try that one too. Overall, the quality of the game itself made this a great experience for me, and restored my faith in escape games. The lounge space and free popcorn was a bonus. A+ guys!
