Hotel Du Nord offers a very motel-like atmosphere(very dingy and dirty-feeling). The woman at the front desk was EXTREMELY helpful and patient as we plagued her with question after question. Other than being very grateful for her though, we really did not enjoy our stay here in the least and were quite glad we only booked one night. Flies were swarming throughout the hotel and in our hotel room. This did not make for a very restful sleep or stay. The complimentary breakfast in the morning did not look edible and the beds looked like someone made them and then rolled around.(Sheets and pillow cases were very wrinkled). Really would not recommend staying here and after reading about Misch’s stay for only $ 91, I dislike how we ended up paying more for this hotel. Parking is included, but neighborhood is not near the city(took us 40-minutes to walk over), but bus transportation is nearby.

My friend and I were planning a trip to Quebec for just one night. Because we didn’t plan to spend a ton of time in the hotel we needed a place that was easy to get to, inexpensive, clean, and safe. Hotel Du Nord was all of these things, for sure. PRICE: We booked on and the price before taxes was $ 91(american) dollars for a room for two people, which was extremely reasonable. STAFF: We called from the road because we were running extremely late but the woman at the front desk was reassuring and accommodating. We got to Quebec quite late at night, after most restaurants were closed and we were very hungry. We had been on a motorcycle for eleven hours! Again, the very sweet woman at the front desk provided me with a menu for a place nearby that delivered food until 5:30am! When the delivery arrived she phoned the room to be confirm my consent and then sent the delivery man directly to our room so I didn’t have to come back downstairs. Poutine in bed! How wonderful! The next day we wanted to explore the city without dragging our pack on and off the bike so we inquired and the day shift staff allowed us to lock our belongings up in their storage room while we went out to enjoy the sights. Everyone on staff smiled as they passed us in halls as well. Seems like everyone there is very committed to ensuring guests enjoy their stay as comfortably as possible. ROOM: The winding hallway made me feel as though our room were in a private and discreet location although we were quite conveniently close to the main stairwell. Our room was clean, including the bathroom. There was a weird musty smell when we first entered but it was definitely just the air conditioner because it went away when I shut it off. I think the air conditioner was the only bad thing about the place! It was only 52 degrees outside and we had just ridden in the dark on the motorcycle for over 300 miles so we were FREEZING and for some reason the AC in our room was on when we got there!(So cold, you guys. So very cold.) The room warmed up quickly when I shut it off and turned the heat on, though. Plus I found an extra blanket in the closet without having to call the front desk, which was perfect. WIFI: Free, strong connection. Password given at check in. LOCATION: Only a 10 minute ride on the«moto» to Old Quebec. Love it. BREAKFAST: Included in price of the room, which was great. But unlike many«breakfast included» experiences I’ve had at smaller, less expensive hotels, the tables were clean, there were many options for food, and the room was well attended by the same cheerful staff, who floated in and out making sure we didn’t run out of honey or peanut butter or cutlery. Definitely started our morning off right. For our purposes the place was absolutely perfect — a clean, warm and secure room to crash for the night. The friendly staff, all night food delivery place nearby and awesome free breakfast were all happy surprises and I would definitely recommend this place to friends.

OK, so it’s not the most elegant place you’ll find. On the other hand, I find it cheaper than other choices and it offers free parking right behind the building. The neighborhood is a bit of a hike from the tourist spots, but the hike is a very interesting one through blocks of interesting ethnic restaurants, grocery stores, and quaint buildings.(There’s also a bus.) I’ll be staying there for the third time next week.
