Went at about 12 on a Sunday for brunch. Place was a little more than half full. Waited five minutes before the waitress came to our table and brought us water. Another five or so before she came to take our order. Then the real waiting began. It was another half hour at least before she brought over our coffee, with no apology for the extensive wait. Our food arrived shortly after, at long last, again with no apology. I’ll be fair and say the food was pretty good, but it wasn’t good enough to be worth the wait. Would not return.

We’ve only just discovered this place recently and have been to two of the jazz lunches(Thursdays) and now a Monday night jazz event. This Monday there was an ecclectic, seasoned, very versatile and talented group of musicians playing a delicious variety of some great Jazz from Thelonious to Brubeck. These guys were quite fun and personable inviting musicians from the audience to join in at times. It was fantastic! The next Monday night jazz event will be January 18, 2016 and apparently the same group will be there. Different musicians or groups play other Mondays. They have a couple of hot dishes on their Jazz nights in addition to their regular menu. Tonight it was vegetarian pasta with fresh crusty bread, quite delicious. There’s beer, wine and a full coffee and tea selection… and homemade pies. At the lunches we’ve had the roasted chicken, roasted bell pepper on ciabatta — very fresh and delicious. There are a few all-day breakfast items in addition to wraps, sandwiches and a variety of homemade soup specials. They regularly have local art and craft exhibits. One lunch we went, there was a meeting for creative people talking about the projects they’re working on. It’s got a homey, down-to-earth, evolving, living, funky, humble, eclectic feel to it and we are so looking forward to making this a regular hang out and to seeing how it evolves.

When summertime comes around, they have an amazing oasis of an outdoor patio INSIDE the building, away from the street, basically back past the kitchen and bathrooms — like a Japanese oasis — well worth a lovely visit! You’ve GOT to check this place out with beer and music rocking!

When I lived in this neighbourhood I ate at the Gallery Bistro often; it was simple, fresh and delicious. This time however was the first time in a year that I was able to make it back; and I must say that I was deeply dissapointed. While the bistro renovation is beautiful, the food has changed, and in this reviewers opinion: not for the better. The menu board still advertises sandwiches served on a baguette, but you are told there are none, & will serve it on a bun, yet you get it on bread — with less ingredients than served with the previous owners. What really bothered me was: where once you’d receive a side of delicious kettle chips — you now get a measly piece of watermelon. That’s right — a large plate with a small sandwich and one piece of watermelon. Here are the changes I saw during this visit from previous experiences: *Smaller sandwich *No side of chips(which trust me are a lovely addition) *Same price as before I really dislike leaving a restaurant hungry, and that was exactly what happened last week. I give this a lower review than I would if it was my first time, but I know the food, the quality and the cost before — so I’m reviewing it lower because I know what I used to get for the same price.

Simple fresh food. Quiet place to meet a friend for coffee or have lunch with your family. They accommodated my daughter’s grilled cheese request. Food took awhile to come out, 20 minutes for 3 entrees. Portions are decent, not too large not small. Love the garden patio in the back. Quiet and at times you can hear the rattle of bottles of people sorting their recycling a couple doors down. Will definitely return when we are in the neighborhood.

Beautiful and Tasty Until last night we hadn’t been to the Gallery Bistro since it was renovated. It’s twice the size, since the gallery now has seating and the wall between the two is down. The food is varied and delicious. They’ve introduced occasional evening entertainment, mostly local talent that rivals anything downtown. Last night it was a five piece jazz band. I’m going back Monday to hear Peruvian music. Finally, a dining establishment to replace Johnny’s, that left Port Moody over a decade ago. Less driving, more time for fun.

This is a great lunch place that is opened from 10am-3pm. It is attached to a gallery called Lone Cypress Gallery as Port Moody is «City of the Arts». I stopped in for lunch because I work in the area and found it a nice cozy place to spend the afternoon. Their sandwiches are delicious(though not a wide selection) and they have daily specials to spice things up. I had the shrimp avocado sandwich with Greek salad which did not disappoint. Price-wise, it is about $ 9 for a ½ sandwich and salad which could add up but their fresh ingredients is definitely worth it.
