Jolly Olde Bookstore

Probably a billion books here. If you’re looking for anything specific, the guy working there must have a photogenic memory because he literally knows where any book you’re looking for is, which is mind blowing considering how many books there are. There are so many books that they don’t all fit on the shelves. He knew EXACTLY (like, literally, to the LOCATION on the shelf and in what aisle) where the 2 books I was looking for were. Blew my mind.
Aside from that he’s a bit weird… I really want to go back but he’s got kind of a pompous attitude and I didn’t like a few of the remarks he made to me, kind of condescending, but maybe I’m just being sensitive. I want to go back and spend an hour just looking but with him there… I feel like I couldn’t be as comfortable as I’d like to be.
Prices were acceptable. There was a kids book for $ 12 which I thought was a bit extravagant for a used book, in good condition or not… But I got my novel, which was in excellent condition, for $ 6. So that was ok.
But yeah if you’re looking for a hard to find book I BET you’d find it here. Make sure you set aside several hours though if you REALLY want to enjoy the place.

I think this place is magic. Really.
Way back when I was little there was this copy of Beauty and the Beast that I would sign out from my library in my home town. I had no idea who it was by but the illustrations were gorgeous and I’ve wanted to find a copy for years. I found it here!
Another time I was telling my husband about this book about a queen who had a dress made from the sky and saying that I wanted to find a copy for the kids. I was in the store one day and I literally found that very book inside another book that I was looking through.
This happens all the time now. I go in here and I find all of these great old books that I used to love and I always leave just thrilled with life.
The store is crammed full of everything you can imagine and it’s well worth visiting over and over.
