This was absolutely fantastic. Perfect really. My daughter got to have her favourite meal — mac and cheese with sausage. I had the veggie burger with salad. The veggie burger was amazing. Not the usual generic veggie burger patty that every other restaurant gives you. This was a freshly made patty, in a bun with mango, chevre, lots of flavour. It was something different and very delicious. I’m super picky about salad and rarely ever get salad at a restaurant. But I had a feeling the salad here would be good so I ordered the side salad. It was perfect. not one little piece with brown or yellow. I usually pick half the lettuce out of my salad, but not here. It was the best veggie burger and salad I have ever had at a restaurant. My boyfriend is a professional chef and he thought the meal was excellent. He’s pickier than me so that is saying a lot. Dessert was also amazing. My daughter had the chocolate cream pie. It was wonderful. My man and I split a strawberry peach rhubarb crumble — seriously yummy. The service was perfect, attentive and friendly. This is my new favourite place. I’ll be back over and over again. Loved it!

So this place is quite close to my home and I’ve been meaning to check them out for ages as I’ve always heard such good things. We arrived early-ish on a Friday evening and had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, but we were told to just call for reservations, as they can usually plan quite well to get people in and out efficiently if they are expecting you. Clearly it’s a popular spot as we watched about six groups come and go after being told they’d likely be looking at a 45 to 60 minute wait. The service was really friendly and one of the owners came by to chat with us a couple of times throughout our evening, which was kind of cool. We ordered a round of beers — they have a decent selection of local bottled micro brew options — and made our food selections. BF and I shared the Piglette Platter with a side salad and chips and we found it to be filling and delicious. The ribs were a bit more dry than I would have liked, but they had great smoke flavour and easily fell off the bone, the sausages were all SUPER delicious and the beans and corn bread were amazing. I am really happy to know this place is so close, and I hear they also do take out, which is fantastic since it appears getting a table on weekends can be tricky!

This is a not-so-hidden secret in Port Coquitlam. It’s hard to put my finger on what makes this work — it’s a bbq joint with a fantastic wine list. The flavours and sauces all worked so well together in each dish we ordered. We ordered fritters, a burger, and a chicken & rib dish between us and everything was seasoned perfectly and featured perfect textures. I would personally have been happier with some beer taps, but it’s still 5 stars. Their bottled beer list is a good size and reasonably priced. The closest local comparable is Peckinpah in Gastown and it’s hardly even a comparison at all.

This was something nice to find in my hood. It’s located in a strip mall that’s full of little gems, so this place fits right in. I went here with 3 more people, so we got to try a few different things. I shared the corn fritters to start. When they came out, the looked really good. They come with one creamy dipping sauce and a honey type sauce. The fritters look better than they taste unfortunately. The corn in the kept getting stuck in my teeth; it was neither juice enough or dry enough. It had some in between weird texture. The flavor wasn’t bad. It was mostly the texture that made it less of a favourite. We also had the midnight mess. It was a good portion and the meat was tasty. We had the specialty, which is the baby back ribs. The meat was tender; although, not the most tender I’ve had. However, the flavors were very nice. It came with a side of corn bread, which was delicious, some beans, which were good but I’m not really a fan in the first place, and some coleslaw, which wasn’t my favourite. My friend had the chili, and it looked like a really good portion size. She said she enjoyed it and finished it. We also had the not your childhood Mac n cheese. It was good and cheesy and the sausage in it was tasty. The sauce was a bit more runny than I prefer, but the flavor was there. My friends ordered the chocolate coconut cheesecake. It was a generous size, and they liked it a lot. The BEST part is their homemade to order chips that come on the side. The seasoning Nd texture are perfect. I could eat some everyday. Try it! One thing that really impressed me was the service. Our server was very friendly, knowledgable, and attentive. I appreciate the good service, which is why I still give this place 4 stars in spite of some of the hits and misses in the food. I’m still walking away with a few favorites that I would order again. I will likely be back for the dishes I really enjoyed.

This place is definitely a unique taste. I loved their ribs and they have some different acquired tastes on their menu. Not a huge fan of the one waitress and sleepy attitude but the food made up for it

I only just found out about this restaurant thanks to Unilocal!Everything here is freshly made in the restaurant. They do not use soy, eggs, or fish due to their family’s allergies. I ordered the Retro Nachos, and then the apple/cranberry crumble for dessert. Both were tasty and healthy. Side note: the raspberry key lime cheesecake/tart looked incredible. I normally feel weighted down after eating out, but not after this meal! I will go back. It’s very affordable too. Can’t wait to try a burger!

My family and I were travelling from Pitt Meadows to New Westminster and wanted to try something different. Well, this place hits the spot for sure. We enjoyed the mesquite, flavoured pulled pork on their fries as a starter. I think it’s called a HOTMESS – delicious. Also, love the crunch on their veggie burger. The girls also enjoyed their cheesy mac&cheese from a kids menu! Definitely would come back to this place again.

Been here several times. Always great food. Could be a little quicker at seating guests. However, the food makes up for it. If looking for good homestyle southern-esque food, it doesn’t get much better in Tri Cities…

Mad props to these guys — and thanks to Unilocal for letting me know about it. I had originally spied it on the way to Costco in PoCo but did not really give it a thought, tucked into the mall by ICBC. Being lunchtime and in an area I am not always in, I turn to Unilocal to see my options. Wilbur & Sabastiens was one of the higher rated restaurants(after a budget Vietnamese place nearby). I took a closer look and saw that they had a(mobile friendly) website with a menu online. Seeing it was a bbq bistro worked for me so I decided to check them out. There is a reasonable amount of parking around the place, nice open windows — although it looks on nothingness. Sparse Bistro style seating, sit anywhere. A breadth of selection on the menu. Lots of international flavour, local focus. A refined selection of local wines from Neck of the Woods and Dirty Laundry as well as Red Rooster and Road 13. More(also local) selection of beer. I loved that they had home brewed ginger iced tea and raspberry lemonade(and went with the former). I also went for the ½ rack(4 bones) of baby back ribs with their classic sauce. The ribs were good and meaty and the sauce was tasty but not overpowering. It came with cornbread and slaw and another side. The cornbread was moist and tasty — and they even give you a recipe for it on their site, with detailed modification options. I chose their home made(bonus) russet potato chips which were nice and thin and crispy and dusted with seasoning. Great attitude. Great, Real Food, Lots of Care. Won’t break the bank — or the scales.

I as well dont understand the good reviews for this restaurant. We ordered a full rack of ribs for moi and a burger for the wifey. Both of us were quite surprised at how little food was on the plate, especially small the rack of ribs were. The ribs had very little smoke flavor and the sauce was nothing to write home about. The side of beans was awful, soupy and the worst I have tasted. The burger lacked any smoke flavor. Meals take a long time to get to the table and so are on the cool side. Having been to many SWBBQ joints, we are really looking for a GOOD one nearby home. Unfortunately the restaurant was so disappointing, we will not be back.

Great burger, awesome chips. Had the Bistro burger and it was one of the better burgers I’ve had. The side of chips was super tasty, freshly made. The iced tea was good, but not my taste, had a very strong ginger flavor.

Not sure why there are rave reviews of this place? Recently, four of us ate there and it failed on many counts. We love southern style food/BBQ and have eaten in a variety of authentic places in the USA. Sorry, but W&S Smokehouse just doesn’t even come close. We ordered both platters and some side dishes. The server took quite a while to seat us, then we waited a while for him to take our orders. Finally, it took way tooo long to actually have the food delivered. Yet, there were only a few tables being used at that time. The food was mediocre. It was not near as flavourful as a number of other BBQ joints. Their sauces were so-so and the cornbread average at best. We had been looking forward to eating here based on a review in the Vancouver Sun newspaper. Very much disappointed.

I have been become somewhat of a southern BBQ snob apparently. The reviews I read about this place were raving on how great the food was, so three of us tried it out the other night. We even had to make a «reservation» so we didn’t have to wait in a line! We were seated quickly and it was very busy in there. Our server dropped menus off and said she would be back for our drink order. So, we looked over the menu and I have to admit, it read pretty well. A variety of different foods including their own pork back ribs, brisket etc from their smoker. So, we made our selections, which we all chose the same thing, a half rack of ribs, just a baseline, to compare to others we’ve had, ie. Memphis Blues etc. Our server came back(she was very nice, and seemed very inexperienced; maybe new?) took our drink orders and food orders. I had the Iced lemon tea, which was very good, not really sweet at all, which I liked. My niece had one of the pale ales, which was also good and my sister had a glass of the white house wine, which was ok too. We started with their homemae tortilla chips and salsa and chipotle mayo dip. The chips were piping hot from the fryer and not salty at all, which we all loved. The salsa and dip came in these tiny little cups! You couldn’t dip your pinky finger in it nevermind a chip! You need bigger bowls for those!!! Then came our ribs… either it was the worlds smallest pig or I’m not sure where they found ribs that small. We each got only 5 teeny, tiny ribs and my order the one rib with any significant meat was sooooo dry I couldn’t chew it. My niece had the same and the other 4 ribs had no real meat on them to speak of… their«smokey homemade beans» tasted like they came out of can and put in the smoker for a couple of hours. They were awful and the amount was in one those tiny cups like the salsa!!! Same for their coleslaw which was sooooo bitter, I couldn’t eat it and my niece was the same. We also got to choose an additional side, I chose the smoked ham with split pea soup, my niece chose the chips and my sister the green salad. The soup was absolutely tasteless! Even when I had to salt it, it still didn’t taste like anything. The potato chips were actually very good, and my sister liked her green salad. We all did not like the corn bread, which tasted like it came from another store, brought in and served. It was also flavourless and soo moist, it was like a squishy pudding. My sister liked her beans, not sure why and she said her slaw wasn’t bitter, and she didn’t like the corn bread either. We did talk to the owner and she was very gracious and upset that we didn’t like our meals at all and«comped» us 15 dollars off the bill. Bottom line… if you’re looking for BBQ, stick to places like Memphis Blues!!! They are still the best in my mind!!! Stay away from Wilbur & Sabatians Smokehouse!!!

I was so sad when their old location in Coquitlam closed, and so happy to find them in a new location. Just like before, they are pan-national — their criteria for choosing dishes seems to be «anything that needs to be slowly and lovingly cooked to achieve full lusciousness.» Tonight I had the posole, a Mexican stew of beans and hominy corn with chunks of smoky sausage from their … …drumroll please… …smokehouse! Yes indeed, they have their own smokehouse where they are making kick-ass ribs and sausage. My dining companions loved the ribs and the sides. And the pecan pie with homemade ice-cream. Great service, great food. I hope they become as popular as they deserve.

I went back to back days to Wilbur and Sabastian’s. Made a reserveration for mother’s day dinner but it really wasn’t needed. We started off with some spicy ice tea made with cane sugar. It was a bit dull in terms of flavour and spice. My dad ordered the 3 bones beef ribs and my mother and I both order baby back ribs. The ribs seriously have this delicious smoke flavour and a crispy outside from the sweet onion sauce(stomach is growling just thinking about it). The sides included molasses beans(SOGOOD), coleslaw(on the milder less saucey side), corn bread(i would classify this as #todiefor, Erin Ireland style), and a choice of another side. The ones i’ve tried so far are fresh potato chips and fresh made tortilla with chipotle mayo. $ 18 bucks for a dinner meal which is a full rack of baby back ribs. I didn’t have much room for dessert but my mother did so we shared a Pineapple, mango, coconut, cheesecake(nice and fluffy). I believe this is the only smoke house in Poco so it’s my favorite smoke house in Poco ;)

I’d been looking at this for awhile thinking I need to try this out. Finally out with my husband went in for lunch, YUM! I’m originally form St Louis so I definitely have BBQ preferences. The Onion sauce was delish and had a great hit of sweet with just a spicy kick as well. Sides were all done well the chips are killer. did not have dessert but looked very nice. Husband had beef ribs and completely devoured them. He had the Peri Peri sauce which he really liked. We’ll be back. Also iced tea is sweet ginger iced tea, very tasty, especially after I squeezed the lime wedge along side into it. all in all great lunch!

PoCo’s newest hidden gem. I truly enjoyed their Bistro Burger. Skin-on Russet Chips were an absolute fantastic choice for a side dish. When you are ready to graduate from the typical fast food or Donair places for lunch, make sure to try this great little restaurant. You wont be disappointed. We will definitely be back many more times to try the rest of their menu items.
