Worst service imaginable. I was approached three times in 2 minutes, twice by adult staff i.e. late-40’s, to «ask» if I needed any help. I used the rabbit ears since the word ask does not apply: They were not interested at all in actually providing help, but to go through the motions. The two adults were pretty dismissive in their tone and approach. The fact that the grown up «experienced» staff can’t figure out how to work zones or areas, or do know how and choose to neglect them, is a testament to their interest in providing a possible consumer with any service. The 1st employee should have pressed on «That shopper is good», but three times in two minutes? Were the grown mid 40’s sales clerks previously used car salesmen? The answer is no because they would know how to turn a window shopper into a proud owner of something they didn’t plan to spend as much on :-P Basically, I was annoyed to the point of feeling like I was being harassed. I mean, bartenders don’t do that, because by *creating* a negative environment, you’re actually harming your business. Oh, did you get that guy? Oh someone spoke to you? Ok cool! lmk if they don’t come back soon, etc. ROCKETSCIENCE. I’ve rarely had a good experience here, and have only stopped in to see what’s new, since it is downtown and is a showcase for product. I don’t consider it a shopping destination. For bootfitting, Kunstadt sports up the road is a lot more friendly, pretty well stocked, and helpful. I would go out of my way to special order something there, than T&L if they both were dealers of the same brand. The only good thing about T&L are the sales. This update reflects years of very poor service. The only exception was the cycling/fitting guy. Not sure about his skill, but he was pretty nice and was interested in providing me a SERVICE, not allowing me to shop there. I passed this on to some of the younger staff by the cash to pass it on to upper management. Unless it’s on sale by 50% and not available in this city, I will not buy it. EVER, Oh yeah, I have fancy bikes and skis, that I never bought there :) One reason why the cycling guy perked up — I walked in with a bike — once. This review is 100% fully deserved.

My experience here was just plain weird. I came in with my gf late one night in the winter. I needed some bicycles parts, and wanted to browse bike stuff. There was nothing out and the teenager who was helping us didnt know if they had certain parts and was running around the huge store asking everyone; it was pretty funny actually, but i started to feel bad and wanted to go. Also, I was asked 10 times if i needed help by 10 different people. The only other people in the store. There were so many employees standing around, and there was no customers. I felt really pressured to buy something, and the lay out of the store was disorganized. The prices were decent for sale items, but i would prefer to go to more specialty shops.

Bought skis and boots here, boots were horrible and I was not fitted at all when purchasing. I ended up chucking them and buying a new pair in Vermont earlier this year through a real boot fitter, all foot pain is now gone. Decent selection of bikes however staff are not very knowledgeable and the mechanics I ran into were absolutely horrendous(not so bad at the central store, the barrhaven one which is now gone was a joke, they were so lost there…). There are better stores in the Ottawa area for almost every category of goods sold at T&L…

Went here recently during a huge sale they were having. I was under the impressions that they’d have more sports gear than just stuff for winter sports… not their fault of course — I was just misinformed: s It’s a bit of a hike outside the downtown though so I wouldn’t necessarily go again just to browse… I“d likely only go if I had a specific thing in mind that I needed. Anyway, the store was having a massive sale so it was absolutely jammed. Their stuff was mostly all on sale but I still found it a tad pricey. Maybe I’m just cheap lol

I went to Carlingwood one to buy around $ 600 bike. People were friendly but they do not carry much stock. They suggested to go to Bank street one and check the stock availability. I went to there by bus(takes 1 hour), waiting about 30 minute in front of bike and waiting anyone to help me.(I asked few times girls at the counter but ignored). Finally someone come and said they do not have the bike. They did not even say sorry. Basically not very interested in selling bike under $ 2000. Very disappointed.
