I got a haircut from here a couple of months ago and it was amazing. The staff are super friendly and approachable. My hairstylist was Karla and she was absolutely incredible. She has a wonderful personality and keep a conversation going without making it boring. I asked for a new look for myself and she made a recommendation on the newest and hottest male hair cuts. I let her do her thing and I was not disappointed with my haircut. This is a top notch hair salon for women and men. Sure it’s a bit more pricy but the quality speaks for itself. If you do go here, I would recommend getting Karla. I can assure you, you won’t be disappointed with the result.

I came in to get my hair done before a night out because I can never get my hair to stay nice, it falls out within an hour of me doing it. I didn’t book an appointment but the lady at the front desk was able to accommodate me pretty easily. The girl that did my hair was pretty nice. I told her I wanted loose curls that would stay throughout the night since getting my hair to stay is my biggest issue. She said that she was going to use a curling iron to curl my hair and then as the night goes on the curls will become looser. She began to curl my hair into these really tight ringlet curls but I trusted her judgment that they would loosen up and look good in an hour or two. When she finally finished my hair it definitely didn’t look like loose curls, they were tight and ringlet-y and she teased my hair A LOT(which was a disaster to brush out this morning), she said she did this because she really wanted my hair to stay. I wasn’t upset or unhappy with my hair because I was sure it’d look better as the night went on. I went to pay and it came to $ 60, that is so much for having someone curl my hair. Joseph’s in Rideau charged me $ 30 and back home in Halifax I’ve never paid more than $ 25. The best part is that about an hour later, it started falling out, but it didn’t really look good. About 2 hours from when I got it done you couldn’t even tell I had anything done to my hair that night. I could very easily do a better job than she did and she charged me up the ass for it too.

I think my hairdresser did an adequate job with a complex bleach out and dye job. Although it was exactly not what I asked for. I asked for lavender hair. Pale lavender hair for the summer. I stressed that i wanted all over colour, no highlights. I repeated this several times: I hate highlights/mini lights/low lights, etc. Not for me, but no judgment. I also kept saying that I didn’t want a spec of yellow blond to show up. How I ended up with yellow blonde hair with pink tips and purple mini lights is beyond me. So, I get that colourists can’t predict the outcome, but he should have been a better listener. I also came to a consultation beforehand to see what was possible considering my dark hair. I was quoted $ 120 — 180 for the colour job. I can’t say i was thrilled when it came time for the cash register to ring in the total price. In fact, it was more like a muffled scream in my chest. 280 $. Really? And they dared to blow-out my hair, when I didn’t ask for any styling. Can you please please please ask your customers questions and check in with them? Here’s an example that would have made me a return customer: «hey Lina, do you mind if I try some mini-lights in your hair? It’s going to cost extra.» or «hey Lina, I am going to now give you a trashy Valley of the Dolls blow out, it’s gonna cost extra, girlfriend!» I’d rather have someone be listening to me and hearing me, and I am happy to pay and tip generously if I feel heard. Won’t be returning. Just saying.

I was introduced to Texture by a couple of co-workers after seeing their amazing hairstyles and colour changes over the year. Their styles were trendy, fashionable and really suited their body types and personalities. What I respected the most about my first visit to Texture was they took the time to consult me and get to know me before they whipped out the scissors and hair dye. Texture’s policy is to consult every client before they cut. This allowed me to get to know my hair stylist and allowed the hair stylist to get to know my personality and interests, and most importantly, my hair history. I’ve been a client of Texture for almost two years now and have referred many people. In addition to the fabulous customer service, Texture is an award-winning salon and I love my award-winning hair stylist Chelsea. She is a great friend and makes sure I’m happy every visit. My hair has never felt so healthy and looked so good in many years. I feel on top of trends in hair design and I’ve connected with lots of great customers.
