Joe’s Pizza & Subs

I was walking back from work late at night and decided to stop by as I’ve been here before but didn’t really enjoy my experience however I promised myself to give it a second chance.
I had a chance to talk to Joe, the owner, and see what he suggested and I have to admit it was delicious.
I had a large steak & mushroom sub. It was a bit more expensive than I’d like to pay but it was delicious. I’d probably order a couple times week a if it was a few dollars cheaper.
Their menus have coupons at the end which I assume I could use to cheapen it a bit but I’d feel uncomfortable using them multiple times a week.

What can I say. Pizza in Toronto sucks donkeys (bleep) for the most part so whenever I’m back in Ottawa I head here! Love this little place that tucked away off Carling. Awesome crust and sauce plus they’re not cheap with the toppings either. Get a whole pizza or just a slice, you won’t be disappointed!

Great place to grab a slice and sub. Been here twice and had great food both times. The owners are very friendly and great to talk to.

Good food and vwery friedly and eager to please. We just moved to the area and were happy andd the gentleman on the phone welcomed us to the neighbourhood.

Delicious pizza that hit the spot on a weekday evening. The Canadian pizza was delicious with lots of meat and cheese toppings. The delivery driver was friendly and on time: about 45 minutes from order to delivery.

Better pizza for the price elsewhere. Rude and unapologetic staff who didn’t care.
Delivery driver blocked my car, and when I asked him to move it, shouted some comments at me. Had my kids with me and they heard it all.
Never again.

I have been a fan of Joe’s for over 30 years !! Fantastic pizza, the sauce makes it one of the best anywhere On top of that the guys that run the place and cook up the pizza are fantastic

I finally stopped in with the specific mission of trying out Joe’s Poutine. All these years since childhood that I have been coming by Joe’s all I ate was pizza but today was going to be different. I was sure to mention that as soon as I stepped through the door and Joe told me that a man that took his poutine on a plane all the way to BC for his wife. Amazing! That made me pretty sure that this was going to be good. While he prepared my not so healthy but surely delicious lunch I chatted with him about his pizza. 4 different kinds of cheese on it, and lots of it too as could be seen from the pizza in progress in front of me. Joe told me he has been in business for 32 years now, just a little less than the Taiping Chinese restaurant across the street which i will have to try out later too. The small poutine ($ 7.20) came in a little aluminum pan, and I took that down to nearby Britannia Park to eat. As usual Joe was not cheap about the cheese, the fries were a nice cut, and the gravy was thick and obviously homemade. See my photo up top. The flavoring was mild but very satisfying. If his pizza wasn’t so good i would tell I’d be ordering this more often…

Yum! I make it my business to try as many pizza places in Ottawa as possible, and after receiving their flyer in out mailbox (with a $ 2 off coupon!) I thought I might as well check them out.
This place definitely has a distinct flavor to the sauce… it’s sweet and tangy at the same time and I loved it! They definitely don’t skimp on the cheese here which was yummy but very filling. The slices are decently sized but not overwhelming which I like.
I opted for the combination and they use giant delicious slices of pepperoni and super fresh veggies. They were average in terms of delivery time (about 45 minutes), but the delivery guy was really sweet and chatty which was nice.
My sister ordered the poutine, and while she said she wasn’t super into it, she did devour the entire thing soooo… read into that what you will :)
If you live in the west end I highly recommend trying these guys out as an alternative to Gabriel’s or another chain.

Joes pizza is a west end Ottawa/​Nepean staple! Awesome sauce… Great combination options with a large variety of toppings. No space to eat in but the delivery is quick and the take out is friendly. Can’t say I have tried much off the menu other then pizza (since it’s soo good!) the Chicken Fantastic is one of my favs!

I am super surprised about Chris’s review… he’s from California… maybe he picked the wrong place??? I’ve ordered from Joe’s quite abit — and it’s great pizza. Homemade sauce, great dough, good service… the best in the city in my books is House of Pizza on Richmond Rd… and i would put Joe’s in the top 5 for sure.
FYI, I always ask for my pizza to be well done… gotta have the bottom crispy and that’s the only way to get it… plus brown cheese is the best.

OK, so my boss got a bunch of pizzas delivered to work. (No, he wasn’t being cool; it was just a ploy to get us to work through lunch!). So of course I partake; it was a free lunch! I wish I didn’t. It was awful. Soggy, chewy, and gross. Sure enough, they ordered the pizza from Joe’s.
Adding that to my previous experience with Joe’s sandwiches, and they lose their second star. You can find someplace better to eat! Even if someone else is buying, I know now that I should spend my own money to go elsewhere.

Absolutely Disgusting!
Me and my girlfriend ordered the following: 2 poutines + 2 chicken caesar salads
The total for the bill was $ 38.00! This wouldn’t be too horrible considering it was delivered, but look what they sent us!

It was more like soup! Disgusting and soggy fries drowned in gravy. No cheese curds, just gross melted goop.
The salad was at least fresh, but they give you like 2 packs of this really small dressing that you can buy in the grocery stores! Not nearly enough for the salad.

I have never written a review in my life, but this food forced me to.
To make matter worse, I called after we got the food to make sure the price was right and the guy on the phone confirmed it.
I said «that’s way too much, we won’t be ordering from here again» and he said «good, I hope you don’t».
Fantastic customer service, right?

Been going here as long as I can remember. The staff is great, the food is even better. While you may get pizza cheaper elsewhere, it’s not nearly as good! They do have some pretty good specials and often have coupons delivered to your door :). And if you’re lucky, you’ll get a dough ball with your pizza!
