Stopped in while visiting family for the holidays. Friendly and knowledgeable staff!!! Feels like you’re talking to an old friend or family — so personable and not pushy at all. They stand behind the products they sell. Great selection too! Wonderful experience.

I am writing this negative review for Joe Mamma so other people will not experience the same thing. I bought a brand new bike two weeks ago. It is my FIRST new bike since the age of 15 and I am now 60. You can imagine how happy I was. I was interested in a blue Brooklyn Cruiser but was told it would be new stock and therefore $ 100 more. I settled on their last black one from last year‘s stock. So trusting the salesperson I bought the bike. The young lad said that there was no need to keep the receipt because my name would be registered in the computer and that all the service I need would be free for one year, no matter what. Okay, so my husband goes in to buy a basket for my bike for Mother’s Day. Well the basket didn’t fit on the bike because my handle bars were too small a diameter to accommodate the bracket. So we both go back with the bike to solve the problem. Of course the salesperson doesn’t have the time of day for us and says you should have brought the bike in or given me a picture the first time. Honestly all he had to say at the time of purchase was what size are your handle bars and then we could have gone home to measure them or asked relevant questions. He mentions to us that he can install the basket for a charge of $ 15.00. Yikes. We have no problem installing the basket we just need it to fit properly. Anyway other people came in to buy the same basket and I told them to check the size of the handle bars so they mentioned it to the salesman and he brought out a set of spacers. Oh my goodness why didn’t he offer that to us or to anyone else that buys this type of basket. On top of all this I saw another bike for the same price I paid that seemed exactly the same as the one I purchased so I guess the one I bought was not the only one. I really had faith in this place. The sales pitch I received was over the top. I can’t wait to see how I will be treated when I bring the bike in for maintenance. I have a feeling it will suck. The unfortunate thing is I told my friends that Joe Mamma was such a great place. I take it all back and I really don’t want you to be taken advantage of either. This is the first time I have ever written a bad review. Mary Rose May 9, 2015

I hate to write anything other than a glowing review for these guys because I know how great they have been for my friends but I was thoroughly unimpressed last time I was in. I was hoping to get a bit of work done on my bike that I don’t have the tools/time to do myself so I went in and asked for their suggestions. I was told they’d do it all and were happy to but needed to bring some parts in. I went back a few days later to drop my bike off and was then told by someone else that essentially my bike was too old to fix and they couldn’t help me. They didn’t offer suggestions on how to work with what I had or anything, just that it wasn’t possible to do what I wanted and my bike was too old. Now, I’ve built many a bike in my time, in fact I go so far as to call it my hobby, and nothing gets my goat like people telling me a gorgeous bike is useless. I tried to salvage the situation by asking what they’d recommend and their suggestions were lackluster at best. Unfortunately it has left me annoyed. If I do end up buying a new bike I might stop by and see what they have but I won’t actively be heading back.

Went here to buy a helmet after comp shopping along various bike places on Bank St. It’s in the Glebe so there’s definitely a yuppie vibe and if you’re on the hunt for some BMX/fixed gear parts or bikes this is definitely a good place to go. The guys that work there are super nice and helped me find what I was after. All in a nutcase helmet for 40 bucks. Not too bad. However, they don’t really seem to a lot of parts/do-dads, which is always what sells me a bike place. Not sure about their service/tune ups.
