I went here recently with a friend for lunch. Overall, the food was good and the price was awesome! I had the«Non-Vegetarian Thali» for $ 9.99. It came with your choice of chicken or beef curry(I chose beef), rice pulao, vegetable curry, daal, raita, mango chutney, naan, and your choice of gulab jamun or rasmalai(I chose the rasmalai). My friend had a half order of Chicken Tandoori with naan. I love thali because you get to sample lots of different dishes. The beef curry was good. It was boneless cubes of tender beef in a slightly spicy tomato-based curry. The vegetable curry was cream-based and it had green beans, carrots, peas and corn. It was rich and slightly sweet and not spicy at all. For some reason, I was given channa masala instead of daal. I didn’t mind because I prefer chickpeas to lentils anyway. The channa masala was too salty for my tastes, but it was still good. The chickpeas were not too hard, yet not too soft. The channa masala was only slightly spicy. The rice was acceptable, maybe a bit on the dry side though. The raita was unremarkable. And for some reason and didn’t get any mango chutney. I’m not a huge fan anyway, so I didn’t ask for any. The naan was really tasty. It was fresh and hot and not too doughy. I got A LOT of naan. I was pretty much in a carb coma afterwards, but it was totally worth it. I really like that I got to choose between gulab jamun and rasmalai for dessert. Most places just give you gulab jamun, which I find way too sweet. The rasmalai was just the right amount of sweet, and I loved the creamy sauce it was in. My friend enjoyed her Tandoori chicken. I didn’t have any, but it looked nice and moist to me, not dry at all. The chicken came with a pile of slaw of some sort(looked like pickled cabbage, carrots, beets and other shredded vegetables). She didn’t have any and neither did I, so we don’t know what it was, but it looked good. Service was great. Our server refilled our waters often and checked up on us appropriately. The restaurant is clean with very simple décor. The restaurant is in a strip mall, so there’s lots of free parking. It’s in the same strip mall as Sobey’s and it’s right next to Sally’s Beauty Supply. I would return. The food is tasty and you get a lot of variety and a good amount of food for the price.

Chillies is wonderful and a great addition to the choices in Barrhaven(we only have typical suburban restaurants… yawn). Everything is good and the family that runs it is passionate about food, and they care about their customers. We only do take-out(when they first opened the service was terrible and they didn’t have a liquor license), but we «do» take-out at least once a month. Yummy!

Do not let the outside form your decision. I almost didn’t go in the first time because it looked like it was just a take-out spot. Inside it is a cute little restaurant. The food is delicious! I have fully enjoyed everything I have tried. The butter chicken and daal are my favorite!

Craving Indian food last night in the south end, I found Chillies on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. We ordered take out and the meal was prepared and packaged very well in about 20 mins while we waited. We ordered lamb rogan josh, chicken curry, garlic naan and vegetable korma with baked samosa and onion bhaaji appetizers. I insisted on mild spice, I didn’t want the heat. The meal at home was delicious and filling with enough rice and sauce for everyone. The flavours were great and not spicy, just like I requested. I will definitely order from there again. I did not try the online ordering but will the next time. Things I learned: You order your take out at the counter at the back. There was only one server so it took a while before he approached us. Save time and go to the counter! ;)

Was a little unsure when my family and I went in, early Saturday at about 4:30pm and we were the second group there. The service was very friendly, helpful, informative and she recommended the portion sizes. We had the Chicken Curry, Butter Chicken(everyone has this) and Channa Masala. I have Indian at least once a week and this was easily the best. Full of spice and a little heat, chicken was very, very tender. It was the curry chicken that won us over… amazing and we will go back a couple times a month for sure. The Naan and the rice was perfectly cooked and these two you could eat on their own. This is not a Franchised restaurant with perfect décor, but a local restaurant with character! Amazing Indian!!! Just freak’n try it people! We took far to long to try this place. Tom
