Beware of what you sign at Discount Car Rental.
I got the extra insurance even though I didn’t want to (my own insurance company covers me on renal cars), but these guys stated that I needed to bring in my original insurance slip with me. Please tell me who carries that around with them in their wallet? Shouldn’t that stay in your car?
So I didn’t have it with me, so they forced me to get the extra insurance, which was more than the daily rate of the rental. They said that you’ll have nothing to worry about and you are covered bumper to bumper, it will give you peace of mind. So I signed the paperwork.
I rented a car here for the weekend and when I went to Sudbury, I hit a pothole (completely unavoidable), which cracked the oil pan of the car, I put the car in neutral and pulled over right away.
They said it is not covered because undercarriage damage is not covered! So total damage $ 4,000 to replace an oil pan. I’ve checked at least 10 different mechanics and they said there is no way it would cost that much. I tried to fight it myself and finally gave up and got my insurance company involved and somehow once I involved my insurance company it went down to $ 2,300.
The service sucked here, I had a reservation and they told me that they didn’t have any cars for me I had to wait 2 hours.
This has to be the absolute worst place to rent a car from, I would highly recommend that you do not go here for your car rental needs, apparently when they say bumper to bumper they mean bumper and bumper, nothing else is covered, anything above the windshield or undercarriage is not covered.
If a tree falls on the car it isn’t covered, if you crash into another car and there is undercarriage damage it is not covered under their insurance.
