Bought my new computer from this location. Lots to choose from. Staff was super friendly. Overall happy with the whole experience… but happier with my new computer.

I went to this location while I was in the area looking for a specific battery. The employee who«helped» me told me the battery I was looking for was not in stock and needed to be ordered online. He then told to go to the cash counter and said this certain person(his supervisor probably) could help me. I proceed to cash and the person told me the employee who helped me should know how to order a product online because it was part of his training. The person sent me back to the guy and with some help from another fellow employee. my battery was ordered online. I was told I’d have to wait 4 – 7 days and will be contacted when it arrives. A week went by and I did not receive one phone call or an email. I called the store and they said the battery arrived a few days ago. -.- I went to the store the following day, the girl that helped me couldn’t find the battery so she had another person find it for me. The battery was finally found, I paid and left the store. Two weeks later, I get a phone call from the store and was asked if I was still interested in the battery. Sigh, buddy you’re two weeks too late! I told them I already picked it up a while ago and hung up. Too much back and forth, they need to work on following up with their customers and as well as customer service! Don’t think I will return to this location again.

I have been a loyal Canada Computers shopper for years, but I find that this store has problems compared to CC at Spadina and College. I’m not sure whether this store is just badly managed or that they strictly follow corporate policy. Either way, if you have problems here, try dealing with the College Street shop and you may get farther. A few years back, I bought a cable for a client at this location to connect his old parallel printer to his modern USB-enabled computer. Within a couple days, though, he called me to say that the cable had literally burned at the parallel end. So he takes the cable back to the shop and they tell him that there’s no warranty on cables. Ontario law lets you have a no-exchanges-or-returns policy — as long as you aren’t selling fire hazards. My client gave me the cable and I took it to the College store prepared to go to war. One look at it and they said«yeah, this is defective. Here’s your store credit.» Today, I overheard a customer come in to claim CC’s price-matching policy as he bought anti-virus software at twice(!) the price that Best Buy was selling it at. They called out a few guys, including the manager, who said that they couldn’t do the price match because it would cause them to sell the software below stocking cost. The problem, though, is that their fine print makes no mention whatsoever about that catch — as long as it’s exactly the same product bought in the same city, you can get your price matched, it says. I sympathised as the customer got more frustrated trying to explain to them that when you guarantee something in writing, you can’t just change it when a customer tries to enforce it. I left the store, deciding not to buy what I was planning to, before the dispute resolved. The fact that he even had to defend his position makes me seriously doubt the moral integrity of this location, if not Canada Computers itself.

This is the best place In Toronto that I have found to buy computer components. Frys and Microcenter in the USA are better, but that is usually the case when you compare a Canadian retail format to an American one. I have to give Canada Computers 5 stars because they are the best Toronto has to offer in their category, even though they are a 3.5 star compared to Fry’s or Microcenter. Their prices are competitive with the USA. and the 13% sales tax is the only item that puts them at a disadvantage. You can always save some money shopping online, but if you need something same day and you don’t want to get totally ripped off, then this is the place to go. The staff are also knowledgeable about what they are talking about, compared to Future Shop/Best Buy(BB and FS are the same company). Hours here are sort of limited. They seem to close around 8, so keep that in mind. The return policy is not as nice as a big box, 14 days and a 5% stocking fee if opened and not defective. So, basically if you know what you need and you don’t need someone to hold your hand in regards to technology, then this is the place for you.

I have been to several locations of Canada Computers and have found that they always have I am looking for; the staff is very knowledgeable and capable of helping. The prices are very reasonable. They don’t always have good stock available so you have to look around at deferent locations. #30daysofyelp

This place gets two mehs out of two shrugs. I came in to buy a solid state drive, which I knew they had because I was on their website. I went to the counter, and was handed the drive by the one guy who had the key(there were two other people behind the counter who were only there to be cashiers, I think) who then handed the drive to the cashier who started to ring me out before I could ask any questions or uh. shop around the store for other things. I knew that there were a couple of tools I was going to need for this, so I asked them if they carried a laptop repair tool kit(I think I saw one at the Kennedy location). The cashier got immediately flustered and said she had no idea what I was asking for. I then asked if I could get some mounting screws for the hard drive, which are parts that usually computer stores will just have laying around if they do repairs. They pointed me over to repairs, where the guy was much more helpful, though it took a long time because he was the only guy at the counter and there were people there who actually needed help, who weren’t there to score free stuff. All in all, it’s faster than buying it online, but they don’t have the service that I’ve seen in other DIY type stores.

Canada Computers is a good place to find your computer parts and electronics for good prices. I found they are beginning to carry digital music equipment equipment. Some decent stuff too like Pioneer DJ decks. Renovation is welcomed. Feels a lot less crowded now. They are still organizing and stocking the shelves as of Feb 19⁄12 but it should be done fairly soon.
