Small downtown with exceptional sandwich/butcher shop called The Meatery. Sandwich a bit pricey but worth it once you’ve tasted, paired with a glass of coke, it’s pure bliss!

This place makes some very tasty sandwiches. I can taste the quality of the ingredients. The short rib sandwich was very good. The bread was fresh, firm and held the meat well. The meat itself was flavourful. My only small issue is the price. $ 10 for a sandwich makes for a pricier lunch when you add a drink or side. Although I do pay for quality over quantity sometimes, I can see how this place thrives in this neighbourhood versus others.

My husband and I eat paleo whenever we can and found this place after visiting the bridge on our vacation. We enjoyed their mushroom soup and had the pork belly on a bed of arugula. OMG it was good!

I stopped here to get a sandwich to go after my shopping in Edgemont. I ordered the beef brisket sandwich and was hoping to get a bowl of soup to go too. The Bison Chili(soup of the day) was sold out. Must of have been really good! Next time I see that on the menu, I will grab some! The girl behind the counter was very friendly and did very well for being the only one there. There are places to sit to eat there, but it is a small area. So, getting mine to go was a good idea anyway. Once she took my order, my sandwich was was up within 10 mins. Very warm and wrapped in butcher’s paper. It was still warm by the time I got it home too. A very large sandwich with great flavours! Love the pickled carrots and cucumber as well as the onions, which were so cooked down, it seemed like a jam on top of the brisket. Perfect… the brisket was really tasty and soft. Sooooo good!!! I will come back again!!!

I had Short Rib and Roasted Pork. Roasted Pork was a drier sandwich even though olive oil was added on the bread. They used fresh ingredients and provided enough portion for each order. $ 10 for each sandwich is a bit pricy, but I think the overall dining ambience and food quality worth that price.

$ 17.50 for a sandwich and a beer what a joke. Cold tasteless sandwich with very little pork, just full of cold Italian sausage. Way to expensive for what you get. In fact I’m sending it back. My sausage was still frozen. UPDATE. I knew that pork wasn’t held a at safe temperature. 8hrs later and I’m sitting on the TIOLET for the 5th time. ITWONTLETMEMAKEITNOSTARS

I eat here too much. I shouldn’t eat gluten and I eat here far too much for someone who shouldn’t eat gluten. Why do I eat here so much? Well several reasons…1) I work in the village 2) I live in the village and 3) It’s REAL food. Oh my good lord their sandwiches. Bread(white or brown) is baked fresh in house every day. Perfectly crusted, delicious and soft on the inside, this bread is a sandwich lovers dream. It is so good. The sauces and aiolis are also made fresh in house and add that perfect layer of flavour to whichever sandwich you order. SO lets take a run down of my favourite sandwiches since apparently I’m an addict. 1) The Deli: Delicious salty prosciutto, thick creamy rich brie, arugula, and the perfect balsamic vinaigrette to break through the fattiness with a touch of acidic. SO. GOOD. 2) The Vegetarian: Carmelized Pears, thick creamy rich brie, and a brown butter sage sauce. I learned the trick here for the meat-eater is. Add Bacon.(Obviously). It’ a game changer. 3) The Roast Chicken: Always a good stand by. Deliciously moist roast chicken, this epic sundried tomato aioli and arugula. You can smell the incredible aroma from this gem across the office. 4) The Short Rib: Slow cooked short rib in a homemade hoisin sauce. Guhhh. Cabbage slaw. SORICH. So messy. So good. Not so good to eat in a business meeting(I learned the hard way) but still just incredible. Their soups and salads are also mind-blowing, so do yourself a favour and either a) Go with someone and share or b) order a half sandwich and soup/salad combo for $ 11.00. If their chili is on special — make that happen. It’s served with a peanut crema, a salsa verde and mango purée and it has the perfect level of spice. If it’s a rainy day and you feel like a treat — their sausage rolls are unlike any sausage roll I’ve had before. Just epic. And the bonus? They serve alcohol. Craft beer and a great selection of local wines. Pro-tip? Go mid afternoon if you want to score a table, or early if you want to score one of the couple spots on the patio. And maybe get a gym membership because well. meat and bread and cheese and beer.

This was a great local butcher shop that had great sandwiches. I had a vegetarian sandwich that was wonderful and big. I also had a beet and carrot salad which was yummy. One of the Holden had the sausage roll and he loved it. Great place to eat at the table or to pack up and take out for a picnic. They had beautiful pies but unfortunately I did not have room.

What a great spot. This is HUNGER MANs dream come true. Sandwiches loaded with meat served on a cutting board. So primitive and perfect. I had the roast beef with bacon. The sauce was delicious and the bacon was spread over the sauce in large super sized bits! They even have craft beer on tap so I ordered that also to accompany my lunch. There is also a butcher on site with an assortment of fresh meats attached to the store. Quality and service where top notch. I will be back and next time I will eat everything in site.

Tired of getting a sandwich for lunch? Then you haven’t tried the Meatery… The sandwiches here are truly EPIC(my favorite is the Pulled Pork with Chipolte Slaw). Fresh roasted meats. Gorgeous breads. Intriguing combinations. This is really a 5 star joint when it comes to food, but the location is tiny with very limited seating, and even though the staff work pretty efficiently, you can still expect a bit of a lineup if you hit them at peak eating hours. If you are looking for something delicious, intriguing and loaded with meat, then I would definitely check the Meatery out for lunch.

If you asked me a couple of months ago I probably would have rated five stars. Loved coming here for lunch. The $ 10 pricetag is a bit steep but it used to be 100% worth it based on the quality and quantity. Haven’t seen the owner around much this spring/summer and I feel like the value is starting to slide a bit. Portions of meat and veg are smaller(but the sauce seems the same), esp if you order a half sandwich(it can end up looking more like a 1⁄3). My fav sandwich on the regular menu is the chicken, which they used to add cheese to no charge. now is an additional $ 2. I preferred the salads they had last winter(more grain and meat based), the ones lately have been mainly greens. Hopefully this was just a seasonal switch! All in all, tasty and filling. One of the better places to eat in Edgemont for sure. Plus it’s attached to a great butcher to pick up dinner.

I finally visited The Meatery. I asked them to recommend something. And then I ordered Roasted Pork Belly Sandwich. It was to die for!!! It became one of my favorite foods in Vancouver. I’ll visit soon to try other one.

Just finishing the Grouse Grind, my dear and I needed some recharge food after doing over an hour of hiking and thought maybe a sandwich was going to do it. We stumbled around this place once last year also after doing the Grind and always thought of coming back. Attached to Windsor Meats, this place can be easy to miss, but once you enter, you can see the divide of meat shop, and this place. It’s a tiny place with a counter and a black board above showing about 5 sandwiches on the menu. All made in house, all costing the same $ 10, and a choice whether to eat in… or take it to go! I asked my significant other to choose the sandwich, and she threw it back to me, beef shortribs or bbq pork belly, I made the executive decision of the pork belly as my dear overlooked the cooked meat laying out on the chopping board at the front and said the meat was still moist. I then waited for this sandwich to be built right in front of me. It was later in the day, 4PM on a Saturday, so it wasn’t real busy in here, maybe 2 tables of singles, and I noticed on one table near the front there was a big book(almost like a textbook from school) that was all about meats… James Beard stamped too, I guess this place is really about the meat afterall. So, they make their own ciabatta in house… so it’s fresh bread with fresh meat, what a great combo! They wrapped it up firmly after I paid my $ 11, quite expensive for a takeout sandwich in my opinion, but my stomach was overtaking my clouded judgement, and it was meat in between house made carbs… you really can’t go wrong. Luckily the woman who made our sandwich cut this thing right in the middle for us to share, and right in the mix of the protein and carbs was a nice smearing of pesto, and some arugula sprinkled in between. I think the sandwich could have used more greens, to make this sandwich not so meaty. The pork was real good, a little too stiff and thick like a huge chunk of steak, but if your charging me $ 11(after tax) then might as well bring on the meat. My dear found the sausage like portion a tad over salty, I just had a hard time chewing through the meat while walking, you may want to actually find somewhere to sit, so the sandwich doesn’t fall apart on you. Other than those notes, this sandwich was filling, even though it looked small and compact. I don’t think I would rush back for another sandwich, especially at this price, but if you are in the neighbourhood, and have some extra coin to burn, come try it.

Decided to stop by this place after work after hearing lots of good food. It was hard to decide cause everything looked so good, but I settled on the prime rib sandwich. It is pretty costly at around $ 11; however, it is very worth it! I would definitely come back!

Went in for a second try of this infamous sandwich place. Bought another 10 dollar wich but this time went for their Roast Chicken with arugula, cheese, mayo BBQ sauce, pineapple, and tomato. Definitely not worth it, but can respect small businesses for trying and I usually always support them — just not going back in this case: 1 heated piece of bread — done as asked 2 tablespoons or very little chicken with BBQ sauce mixed in — which tells me it was not fresh or even the way it was stated a few shavings of some cheese(not a slice, but a few very tiny shavings) a little arugula one small slice of tomato — ripe but not enough. I expected 2 — 4 slices. a lot of BBQ sauce no pineapple Sandwich tasy, not fresh meat — I guess understandable since you can’t cook the entire menu every single day unless you are Costco and they tend to have long all day lineups, but the items in the sandwich like meat and fixings were little to none. I can bet a better sandwich with all the fixings and fresh n full at the Italian shop in edgemont. Although lately they skimp on the cheese by replacing it, or use little chicken. The veggie is great though… ok off topic This sandwich was much better even though lacking in most of its items. I noticed on some days they pile the meat on, and other days there is more bread than anything. The price is not worth it. The fatty meat is not good for me either. Definitely not like in Germany. I asked where the chips and mustard were on the plate like they used to have — they gave me a satisfactory answer — didn’t know clientele at first, and most threw it out… waste of their money. I would have told that plus if the customer asked for it, to give it to them. I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t eat a few chips. A little mustard goes a long way…

Soooo good! Simple menu, just 5 or 6 sandwiches soup and salad but as far as I could tell,. all were fantastic. We went for the shortrib. To me, a highly under-represented meat option(especially in a sandwich), and the meat was phenomenal. The bread, cabbage, and mayo also added to it, but why guacamole?(both of us said the same thing,. just not needed and we like guac). Our friends had the roast chicken(awesome!) and spicy pulled pork(sounded great also). Our only complaint might be the price, but it is an above average sandwich for sure so take that into account and the freshness of the bread and meat and I think it is acceptable.

Freshly made bread, fresh ingredients and the smell upon walking in is amazing. I ordered one of the sandwiches with proscutto(asked for this on the side), it was good. The bread, yum. Simple, delicious, fresh, More! Too bad for $ 9 it didn’t really have much in the sandwich for me to say yes, I would return. Service is very friendly. If sandwiches were $ 6 ish I would return.

Wow wow wow. This place is stiff competition with«Meat and Bread» for best sandwich in Vancouver. If you are in the North Shore get over to edgemont village and try one. I recommend the jerk pulled pork it is to die for! $ 10/sandwich is stiff price but worth it for sure!

I’ve been here quite a few times and have tried pretty much everything on the menu at this point. The sausage rolls will blow your mind. Regardless of what sandwich you get do yourself a favour and get one(or two) of these. They make their own mustard. And that’s the kind of place this is… they think of things down to the smallest detail. They recently started opening Wed-Sun nights and I’ve found myself here a couple of times enjoying the new tapas menu and some tap beer and wine.

Slow cooked tender shortrib with guacamole, picked cabbage and organic ciabatta! Fantastic flavor combos for sandwiches and big portions. Quality is evident as you are literally eating in a meat shop and can see the cuts around the corner. Staff are friendly to boot. If your a north van boy/girl as I am, this is a welcome addition!
