Serenity Restaurant and Cafe

With sincere apologies to the very friendly mom & pop who run this place, unless you just want a quick bottle of beer on a hot day, then please stay away.
For $ 13 I expect «baked spaghetti» with a side salad to be something more than I can throw together in my own kitchen. But the salad is iceberg lettuce with a couple of lonely vegetables and bottled salad dressing; the spaghetti is covered in (what seems to be) canned meat sauce, and then baked for no apparent reason — there’s nothing on top to make the baking worthwhile. My ice coffee was actually terrible — and I don’t say that lightly — though the strawberry smoothie my better half had was passable. All in all, we paid $ 35 for a lunch not even worth a strip-​mall food court. As a depressing epilogue, a young couple sat down outside beside us. When their daughter asked, «why can’t we sit inside?» the father replied, «there are too many flies inside honey.»
I write this review with the hope that the sweet old couple running the place reads it, realizes they have an amazing location, but understands it’s time for a change. Hire a chef, lower your prices just a bit, focus the menu, and show Deep Cove what you’re capable of. Because right now, this place is a disaster.
