Mythos Greek Taverna

AMAZING food. The best Greek food that my partner and I have had outside of Greece. I ordered the calamari dinner and he ordered the Keftethes. My calamari was so tender, the potatoes so moist and perfect, the greek salad fresh and crisp, the keftethes seasoned excellently. We just moved to North Vancouver and this is the 3^rd greek restaurant we’ve tried on the North Shore since moving over here and Mythos is by far the best. I highly recommend this place. Even though it took an hour for delivery and to be honest our food was not as hot as it could have been I am still giving it 5 stars because the food is just so unbelievably tasty!

Sorry, I’ve been twice at this restaurant and each time dissapointed. Being a guy from Europe myself, I fully understand why people frequent such places and overlook their quality.
This resto is sometimes crowded, but offers mediocre and overpriced food. We sat close to a family with a crying little baby, our chicked was bad (at any given time I could prepare a much much better chicken, and I suck at cooking!!), my chair was really bad, we had the same ordinary potatos, salad and chicked that get you bloated in any other trully ordinary and overpriced Greek resto in North Van.
PS: when I see it got 4.5 stars, I start wondering: maybe they offer good wines, to get people drink and post silly overrated reviews on Unilocal.hmm…

Great service and portions. Everything was incredibly tasty. We all had souvlaki. The meat was generous, the Greek salad was tasty, and the potatoes were nicely cooked and seasoned.

One of the best greek restaurants I’ve been to. As you enter, you’ll notice the window has over 20 stickers for different diner’s choice awards that they’ve won through the years. Framed photos and newspaper articles about the restaurant and owners line the wall near the entrance. I dined on a Tuesday night, when they have a special on all their Souvlaki dishes for $ 16 (normally $ 18-​$ 22), as well as some seasonal dishes. Luckily I arrived around 5:30pm as the restaurant started to fill up quickly, even on a weekday.
I started with the Saganaki (grilled greek cheese), which came out sizzling on a hot pan, with half a lemon on top. The combination of cheese with lemon brought out the taste and texture very nicely. Plus it mitigated all greasy aftertaste that a grilled cheese would normally have. It went perfect alone or with the freshly baked bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, that they bring out as you are seated.
For my main course, I ordered the Souvlaki kebabs with grilled steak, shrimp and scallops. The dish includes a generous portion of rice, a whole fried potato, Tzatziki sauce and grilled vegetables (zucchini, green beans, carrots sauteed in a light tomato purée). The steak came out perfectly medium, as requested, and the 3 jumbo shrimp and 3 medium scallops were cooked just right. Everything paired nicely with a glass of medium-​bodied Malbec wine.
The food definitely tasted like home-​cooking, and the presentation and waitstaff were very attentive and thoughtful. Perfect for an intimate dinner, as well as larger groups. Portions were just enough to generous, depending on what you order.
Overall, I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting North Vancouver as it is definitely a local’s favorite due the quality and flavor of their food.

The service was ¹⁰⁄₁₀. We received our appetizers and entrees very quickly which was awesome because we were in a rush. The servers were very friendly and knowledgable without being over the top. Our food was really good too. I would come here again and try a different dish. The stuffed eggplant my friend got was amazing. I had the salmon, which was good but I would try something else next time.

This place is awesone. I’ve been there yesterday with my family and we were really happy about everything. Our server was so frendly and carefull about us.
The fods was ALL DELICIUS.
We had eggplant cream, feta cheese and olives, souvlaky with meat and seafood.
My husband had deep fried kalamari, really really good. We are italian and it’s too difficoult for us try other food. But i was really surprised, we well back soon fot try the other plates.

Absolutely love Mythos! I, personally, think this is the best Greek restaurant on the North Shore, if not in the Lower Mainland. Great food, great service, and great ambiance.

We stumbled upon this Greek gem by chance and we are so happy we did.
We were seated quickly and had great service considering the number servers they had tonight from start to finish.
We had the calamari skaras to start– tender, juicy and delicious. My boyfriend had the lamb roast which fell off its bones. Well-​seasoned and cooked to perfection. I had the mixed souvlaki (beef, shrimp and scallops). I was asked how I wanted the beef cooked which surprised me since most places just cook it the way they want. I enjoyed my medium rare beef (tender and moist), as well as my peeled off shrimp and scallops.
Portion size was good, a bit on the pricey side but our glasses of water were always full. We would definitely recommend this place and will be repeat customers.

I ate here with a huge group of people recently and the staff were very friendly and accomodating. Parking is a bit of a challenge especially with our group that came from all over Greater Vancouver. We had the appy platter with tsatsiki and hummus. The hummus was amazing… garlicky, lemony and creamy smooth! The tsatsiki was average — needs more lemon and a little too runny for my taste. My chicken souvlaki was cooked well and it wasn’t dry as most souvlakis tend to be. The Greek potatoes were the best on my plate. They were crunchy on the outside and soft, creamy and lemony inside. Would definitely come back.

Now I have two favorite Greek restaurants in North Vancouver!
My partner and I were out walking on upper Lonsdale Avenue on a lovely Friday evening contemplating where to go for dinner. I’d been Jonesing for a good Mousaka but it was too far to walk back down to our usual favorite Greek Taverna, Pasparos on Third Street, so we decided to give Mythos a try. Boy, are we glad we did!
We arrived ‘early’ around 4:30 pm, in time to get a nice seat near the door. The place is inviting and modern with nice ‘travel’ photos on the wall, classic columns around the bar area and an open fireplace that would be lovely on cool, wet Vancouver night. It was busy but not packed and the ambiance was friendly and cheerful.
Friendly wait staff answered our questions and moved around the tables unobtrusively refilling water glasses and bringing food from the kitchen. We chatted over warmed pita and oil/​balsamic vinegar as we made our dinner choices.
Not familiar with the taste of Retsina, we were given a taster to decide if we wanted to order it with dinner. Not this time but we did have an Ouzo to whet the palette.
We ordered the Greek Salad and a Combo Platter with Mousaka, Lamb Souvlaki, Kalamari, Dolmathes, Spanakopita. The kitchen sent out cooked veggies as our side, in error, but they brought us the salad as well and let us keep the veggies at no charge. That was nice of them.
We added just a sprinkle of fresh ground pepper and dug in. The kalamari was tender, lightly battered and fresh. The dolmathes were soft and packed with a flavourful rice mixture. The mousaka was divine with a slight caramelized top with just a perfect hint of crunch. Everything else on the platter was fantastic.
Our water glasses were kept topped up throughout the meal. We couldn’t finish the last of the veggies, the last few spoonfuls of the perfectly cooked rice or one quarter of a roast potato. All that was left on our plates was the aroma and a smile on our satisfied faces.
The bill was about $ 66 which we considered very reasonable for such great quality food and a nice atmosphere.
I understand why the place is packed full by 7 pm.
Mythos will be one of our favorites from now on. We’ll simply have to toss a coin the next time we decide to go for Greek food.

Great food and great service. Came for dinner and was greeted with a friends host and was seated immediately. Orders the pan fried cheese appetizer and all I can say is wow. Warm goodness that hit the spot. The sever «Laki“then brought out fresh pita and humus (on the house). Now came my dinner, the roasted lamb. I can 100% say it was the best I ever had. Seasoned to perfect and cooked to a impeccable tenderness.
5 stars with out a doubt. I recommend this place if you love good food and great service.

Amazing as always. Fresh, delicious, excellent service for eat in or take out. My favourite Greek place on the north shore! Try the tavas with lamb or the incredible lamb dinner. A steal for the price!

North Vancouver has terrible restaurants! It’s frustrating for those of us who live here as we have less than a handful of options to visit.
Mythos has great food and great service! We have been there three or four times now without any complaints.

Great dining experience! The food is always very tasty. Presentation is great also. The only thing I would suggest is to change the specials. They have had the same specials on the menu for years… a little variety would be good!

Great place for a special night out once a month or so. For our small family of five — the bill is still less than $ 100.
We will usually have a couple of souvlakis for the adults or one souvlaki and one entrée. The three kids will split a couple of souvlakis, and have calamari and pita with hummus as well. There are also platter options (seafood is a good way to go). Our kids have allergies to eggs and nuts, and te staff is always good at accommodating us. One of us parents will have a glass of wine as well.
Friendly staff. We are here once every two months either to eat in or for takeout.

We were driving around this restaurant’s area and walked in here by curiosity and it was a right choice! I had a mixed souvlaki with chicken, prawn, and scallop. Vegetable and potato was amazingly cooked and fresh! It was a cozy, warm, and quite place for a dinner. Highly recommended!

Excellent! My wife and I had a lovely dinner here on Nov. 15, 2013. Started with their homous (as spelled in the menu) which was delicious. I had the prawn special (grilled prawns, split and stuffed with crab and cream cheese) and my wife had the tiger prawns and scallops souvlaki. Both dishes came with roasted potatoes and tasty rice and the potatoes were perfect. Meal was accompanied by Yellow Tail Shiraz which was yummy. The place has a nice feel to it and I added a picture of the bar to the photos section. Wait staff were excellent and our waiter was very friendly and efficient. Overall, an excellent meal and we will be back!
