The LCBO is the local wine, beer and liquor store in Canada. On a recent trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake, this is where our group stocked up on all our wine/beer needs. It’s a bright and clean store with great organization and help is available if needed. They take US dollars(giving you CA change) too, which was incredibly convenient for me since it was a pre money conversation stop. Wine and liquor is kept in the front of the store, with a convenient chilled wine selection as well. I wandered back to the«beer cooler» to find an impressive selection and was able to pick up a variety of local cans. Most craft beers are sold individually in large 473 mL aluminum cans. You’ll pay for the beer as well as a $.10CA deposit(FYI: this location does not refund the deposit fees!) I felt pretty lucky to strike up a conversation with an employee who was able to recommend some great options and was very welcoming. Whether you’re looking to party in up with friends, bring a couple drinks back to your house(or hotel room) or have a picnic in the park, the LCBO is your best bet for stocking up. Do note, the hours are limited compared to US liquor store hours, staying open the latest on Thursday and Fridays, and that’s only until 8pm. I highly recommend grabbing some wine here and some cheese at Cheese Secrets around the corner and heading over to Simcoe Park for a picnic.
