Mojito House Bar & Restaurant

I really wanted to like this more than I did. Having been to Key West and tasting Cuban food both there and in NYC I had high expectations. The mojito list is pretty extensive. There’s about 20 kinds to choose from including classic, mango, pear, dark rum (cha cha mojito), apple and others.
We started with a round of mojitos and the peppers which were supposed to be poblano and jalapeño stuffed with cheese. We only seemed to have jalapeños, no poblano to be found, but these were clearly made fresh and were the best part of the meal.
We each ordered a sandwich — the Cuban and the braised beef and while both were decent, the meat was a little dry and it needed salt or some kind of spice kick.
Both the yuca fries and regular potato fries were good, crusty crispy exterior and a nice soft center. I’m partial to the fiber of yuca fries and these were pretty spot on.
All this considered I would have given this place a 3.5 star review but what really killed the experience was the ants. Ants and fruit flies.
I understand fruit juice will draw fruit flies and in tropical locations I can understand this being an issue more than an indoor restaurant in Ontario in May. The ants (I smashed about 5) were really the killer as to why we will most likely not be back. There were sticky spots on the bar that attracted them and clearly cleanliness needs some assistance.
In summary — fried foods were very excellent and clearly made from scratch, sandwiches were a bit dry, mojitos were a bit strong but the bar had an ant and fruit fly problem.

Gave em one star because that’s the lowest rating here and not lower.
Ordered an Ultimate Cuban Sandwich and a Ropa Vieja Sandwich and what a waste they both were. No ham, no pickles on the Cuban.seriously. More bread than meat and big chunks of onions. This place is a disaster when it comes to food.

Steak very good, fries very good. Salad not good. Paella not good, too spicey and the mussels were no good either.
Only came because of the Groupon. Churro with chocolate, nope it’s caramel. Sorry but we won’t be back.
