Certain things catch your attention. In this case, I ordered the Chili, which arrived in an appetizing bowl until I hit the bottom a scant 2 cm deep. This is not a bowl, it’s a deep desert plate! Essentially, a $ 4 Tim Hortons Chili would have filled the whole $ 10 Grey Goat bowl. A little obvious, huh? The Chili was covered in a generous layer of shredded cheese, and accompanied by 2 small slices of garlic toast. I like Timmy’s Chili better. Yeah, I like Wendy’s better too. My other choice was going to be the Corned Beef sandwich, but my lunch guest chose that one. Glad I didn’t. The beef looked fairly dry and unremarkable. It’s a bar. Don’t expect anything beyond bar fare.

Meh, really this place I went to because it was close to where I was on my weekly walks. I’ve been here before on other occasions but not for food. So this was me stopping in for a pint and a salad. Now it’s got a nice patio up on the hill where the building is with some nice loungey areas to sit, but I craved some a/c because I was outside for a bit and a was sweaty n gross. Unfortunately I found no relief as they had kept the doors open all day and the inside was almost just as hot as outside. Another big downside to the doors being open the whole time was the flies that were inside, not really an appealing thing when ur eating and a fly or 3 is buzzing around you … And you spend your meal swatting them away. One woman had to send her drink back because a fly had landed in it, gross. So with my beer(of which there isn’t any cool options, ie. Craft brews) I had a Cobb Salad which had the dryest grilled chicken you could imagine, the blue cheese dressing was runny and rather nasty, and the cut on the veg in the salad like the peppers and onions was big and chunky. Really seemed like there were zero effs given in the kitchen. Also the state of the eating area was badly maintained, some people who sat down on stools near my table had to steal alternate stools because they were looking damaged and unbalanced to the point of being dangerous. I guess they just want to draw in some locals that just want a place to get drunk and not pay too too much for beer. Blah, with so many winners on Main St. This is definitely not one of them… Pass this one up.

Fun cosy pub in the heart of downtown Newmarket. Great live music. Had a fun girls night here a few weekends ago, happy that they had Strongbow on tap. Great live band(duo) who kept us dancing throughout the night. Even took requests! So after a survey of one visit, I’d go back.

Fun place, love the staff, reasonably priced drinks and great live music! Nice to see a bit of an older and mixed crowd too! Definitely a go-to for weekend drinks, and a huge patio as well.

As far as food, it’s not a bad place from my experience. But if you don’t like being harrassed by bartenders/waitresses, this might not be the place for you. One in particular was incredibly rude and inappropriate. I will not return out of principle.
