My husband and I went to biBo last week, and it was our third or fourth time there(we come to Nelson once a year). The lady who served us was nice and attentive. The food was good. The oysters were fresh and tasty. The only thing we were dissapointed with was dessert. We had lime napoleon and apple/strawberry tart and they were just okay. Both of them were made with phylo pastry and fruit. But they were not exciting at all. If we knew how they looked like we would not ve got them. But thats okay, it means they can do better and they must strive for it. Otherwise, our experience was positive!:) and I recommended it to my friend who is coming to Nelson next week!:)

I was vacationing and I ran into this restaurant on a walk. I was attracted by their lovely shaded deck with views of the mountains, and the brick façade. Service was good, a little precious for such a small town. Yes, I get that the steak must rest after cooking, but also the potatoes, beets, and asparagus? The food was served on the cooler side. Choice of sides was spot on: layered scalloped potatoes and sweet potatoes were the highlight, and the golden beets and asparagus added earthy and nutty notes. A $ 30+ steak should be amazing, with a slighty charred crust contrasted with a rosey melting interior, seasoned with just the right amount of sea salt and cracked pepper, making your knife and fork busy for the next bite. This steak was however just pretty good. Maybe it’s a Canadian thing, but the steak had an almost steamed or boiled quality to it with very little seasoning. It was still good though, just not amazing. With that said, I would definately return and try their other menu items.

Food was great, but the setting and atmosphere on the patio made this meal for us. Service was great too with our server making some good wine recommendations. They claim to have the world’s best sangria but it definitely wasn’t memorable. Pretty watered down and disappointing. The rest of the meal was very good though. Will definitely be back!

This place could match any restaurant in Vancouver for fresh seafood. I sh*t you not! The owner has a truck arrive from the coast with a big tank in the back with live oysters and other seafood! It’s not everyday, mind you but… They really have talented chefs and serving staff here. I loved the patio and the blankets they handed out when the sun and temperature dipped lower.

Went with my boyfriend for Oyster night and wow what an amazing time we had. Got a dozen oysters plus a selection of apps and a bottle of wine. Everything was amazing and the service spot on. Our server brought over the oyster farmer to introduce himself and we chatted for a bit. That was cool too. Where do you get that damn charcuterie??? Was really really good. We came back a few nights later just for some boards. So good.

I recommend their shaved radish salad, which is thinly-sliced radishes, nutty pea shoots, and locally-sourced mixed greens tossed in a fresh citrus dressing and served with creamy goat cheese and juicy red currants. Tart, tangy, and incredibly refreshing.

Food was spectacular. I love the naturally raised meats, tender lamb and gnocchi. Our server was very relaxing and charming. Mocha tart was also very good.

On my last visit to Nelson, I had 2 nights and I ate at BiBO for one of them. It was winter and I had a very nice charcuterie plate to start followed by one of the best rabbit pappardelle I’ve had. Now that I’m back for a few nights, I made sure to stop in again, this time in the early fall. When I got there, I was greeted very warmly. It was a slow weekday night nevertheless I liked the personal attention by my server. I went with the charcuterie again and it didn’t disappoint. 2 artisanal cheeses from Qualicum and 3 cured meats sourced from BC. Served with home made relish and mustard. Really good. I moved on to the duck confit served on a wild rice risotto. A thin bed of fresh spinach separated the two and there was a parsley purée around the edge. There’s never magic to confit but it went very well with the plate. The risotto was fantastic. The richness was cut by the salt of he confit and the freshness of the parsley. Excellent meal.

We tried Bibo while visiting from Spokane as it was recommended by a server from another place. It is one of the most expensive places in Nelson so there are few things I didn’t expect. For example the two waitresses went over their paperwork and the splitting up of tips almost the entire time. The woman who wasn’t our waitress went on and on about her love life in excruciating detail after she figured out the tip split. It is a small place so felt this was insulting and rude. The place smells off and we decided it must be from the duck they serve. As for the food, my friend’s duck was very good. I was so disappointed in my chicken. It tasted like something I could make at home. It was tough, pounded flat with maybe one spice added to it. For 26.00 I expected something special. For 15.00 we had amazing chicken at the Outer Clove, in Nelson. I recommend that place.(But don’t go there when you are hungry. They have to be one of the slowest places I have ever been to.) We have gone three times and always swear we won’t go back because of the service. But we always return because of the excellent food! Visited 3−24−12 for dinner

I could have overlooked the overpriced, overcooked food if not for the horrible service. Our waiter never approached our table after our meal was served. Not to ask how the food was, or to see if we needed more drinks, or to offer coffee and dessert. We literally had to go and ask for our bill. He was completely passive aggressive and rude the whole time prior. It’s a shame since Nelson doesn’t have a ton of nice restaurant options. The ambience is really nice and the lady behind the bar was pleasant. Too bad she wasn’t serving us. And one last thing; who puts Southern Comfort in a Cosmopolitan? I won’t be going back.

Innovative, sophisticated bistro menu and taster plates. Great wine list and pairing. Neat and cosy space, good for a quiet meal for two or a small low-key meet for friends… but not for a party… tables too close together. Attentive service and fair prices. Lots of locals love it too. A lighter alternative to All Seasons and Louie’s.
