As a recent convert to Barre classes, I was wanting to keep up my practice(read: toned bum) while on vacation in Montréal. Thankfully Unilocal pointed me in the direction of Tres Studio and so it was that I found myself on two days being whipped in to shape by the team. Oh boy did I sweat! The Barre classes here are not for the faint hearted. They’re quickly paced and you’ll lurch from one exercise to the next. Great for burning calories, but perhaps not so great for perfecting technique. Take it slow if you’re a beginner so you can be sure you’re doing the exercises correctly and not putting your body at risk of injury. There’s an introductory offer of $ 12 for your first class, which is a really affordable way to see if Barre is for you. The team here are super lovely. I was impressed with their energy and positive attitudes, and gladly sat after my first class chatting to them while sipping on a freshly made vegetable juice in the«café» area downstairs. This was a calming space to sit either before or after a class and I was surprised to see no one else taking advantage of it. Pro tip: Classes are conducted in both French and English. Some teachers are excellent at swapping between the two effortlessly, while others focus 90% on French. Be sure to ask if you think you’ll need to understand what’s going on!

Have you dreamed to be a ballerina as a little girl, to fly in the air on the world stages as a white swan. If yes, you must try the barre classes offered by this studio. They are based on the classical ballet moves and will make you appreciate the hard work the ballet dancers have to endure. I love the barre class with Kara and her team. It’s challenging, but well balanced and simply a wonderful workout. All the barre teachers are such an amazing instructors. They would always pay individual attention to everybody to help improve posture and maximize the effect of the exercise.
