I was really happy with the service at Icone. I got a same-day appointment when about 7 other salons turned me down, and Stacie(unfortunately not there any more) took really good care of me. I wasn’t 100% satisfied with the colour(it was a tricky red-brown transition) but they got me back in as soon as possible to fix it — no fuss, no charge. The atmosphere is really relaxing, and on Wednesday’s, they have lots of services half price. Definitely reccommed.

This was my first visit to a Montréal coiffure. I was looking for a good hair colorist to correct the color i already had. Googling, i found Icone coiffure, and afterwards i called for more info. To make a long story short, they booked me for a free consolation. The salon is in a nice area, clean, nice building, and friendly. The stylist greeted me and talked about the color i already had and suggested something that will suit me better. She made me feel comfortable and i asked if we could do it right away. She said ok. So we begun. I asked about the estimate. She told me it would be about 150 $(max). As she finished, she started to blow-dry my hair and saw the color. At first i was content with the result but then i noticed that she had left a layer of hair uncolored. I told her and she replied that we will correct it next time. I didn’t like that because i could actually see it as it was right in front of my face. She continued to blow-dry my hair and i got the feeling that she couldn’t stylize my hair. They were all over he place. And i have«easy» hair! You know, the best part of a new color is the final presentation. And if the presentation aint good, then, you can’t enjoy the color. It made me furious that i had to pay for a blow-dry… I was very disappointed with the final stylize. The color was ok but could have been better and in the end when i went to pay, she asked me for 168 $ plus the tip. I dont wish to go back. Im sorry. I have a «thing» with my hair, like most women, and i want the perfect results.

Avoid this place and save your money for a better haircut in any other salon. I left disappointed. My haircut ended up as a disaster trim. I was shocked. I asked for a hair straightener just to style my own hair before walking out those doors. I wish that my experience could be a better one as they were nice people but the cut was not a good one for me. The receptionist(the owner’s wife) said that she can reschedule with another stylist… welll…no thanks! I will never come back!

4 or 5 visits later… I’m still quite happy with the cut. And of course Leo is quite congenial and the staff is quite accommodating of my schedule, for example if I’m running late there is minimum fuss. Less over the moon with the the color. The other thing is that I find l’Oreal to be quite damaging. I think that I should have paid more attention to the effects of over/multiple processing: base, highlight, refresh highlight, toner too often. I’m also not that fond of this salon’s main product line Kerastase. I know that one of the deep conditioning products which works really well no less, gives me breakouts.

Have you ever gotten a haircut and felt dirty afterwards? Because after my appointment was over, I went home and took a shower. I’ve had cheap, $ 15 strip mall haircuts before and I much prefer those experiences to the level of service I experienced at Icone. I went on a Wednesday for the«student price» day for a haircut with Anne. Their«crazy discount» is a total gimmick. I payed $ 42, which is about what I would expect for a mid-range haircut anywhere. I could’ve gotten a better haircut at a barbershop than what I got here. Maybe it was the way she half-heartedly washed my hair. Or the number of times she slapped my hair in my eyes while combing it. Or how she left to collect customer’s money mid-way through my blowdry. and didn’t wash her hands after handling money. Or how she kept blowing her nose. Or how she kept checking her nails. She clearly just had acrylics done: not appropriate to have long talons as a hairdresser. Or the cut on her finger she kept sucking at with her mouth. I’ve had my hair cut enough times to know that there was something seriously wrong with the way Anne treated my hair. She forcefully combed it through the entire appointment(detangling product, hello???). Not to mention other basic things like cutting the hair straight and adding layers. I’ve had«bad» haircuts before, but not like this. The real kicker was at the end of the appointment when she asked how I normally dry my hair. I replied that I usually dry it in sections. She then dried my hair in sections(is that why she asked?), only to complain afterwards that my hair took a long time to dry. 1) You shouldn’t have to ask the customer how to dry their hair and 2) I have thick hair, what did you expect and why would you complain? If I were the salon owner, I would not want this type of employee working in my salon. It wasn’t just Anne either. There was some strange behavior I saw from other employees too. I understand that the owner was away while I was here, but there is no excusable reason why I received such poor service. I should also note that there seems to be a level of cleanliness missing from this salon. There were lots of little hair pieces left on the chairs and on the stations. I also failed to see any proper equipment to disinfect hair tools(heck, at least barbicide). Hair in the sinks. Funny smell in the place. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. Go somewhere else. I will never go back.

I grew up in France. There I’ve had the same hair dresser for the 10 years before I moved to Montréal in 2007… and it made it very tough to trust someone else. A first deception with an hair dresser in Montréal led me to cut my hair by myself until recently. Christian Livet has been a client for one year already and getting to know him and his team led me to trust him. That’s how I ended up with a very nice and fresh hair cut in August this year. It was very nice to receive compliments and that made it a no brainer to schedule a second appointment with Christian at the end of September. Thanks to Christian and his team, I highly recommed the salon.
