Whether you’re cooking for a dinner party or looking for hor d’oeuvres, Chez Latina offers a great selection of the finest meats, cheeses, produce and deserts. I told a staff member what I was looking for and she offered an excellent selection for a house warming party. If I lived in Montréal, this would be my primary store to prepare for dinner parties or just to treat myself to a nice meal!

I have shopped here frequently since it opened. The staff is friendly, and they have a great selection. Some of my favorites: –smoked maple bacon(no nitrates!) — so good –selection of different sodas –imported salsas and sauces, wow! –their avocados are always pretty good! –store-made soups. Have tried a few, all great! The produce varies depending on the season. I highly recommend this store!

Super friendly outpost of the Mile End grocer tucked a little below street level on Sherbrooke near the Fine Arts Museum and Concordia. Grab all manner of delicious local products and imports, most notably a great big fridge of Quebec micro-brews! The staff here are super knowledgeable and super cool, this is a little oasis of goodness in the area, highly recommended.

You know when being somewhere just feels good? that’s Latina. It’s small but they have a good selection of good stuff, good bread, and even a decent selection of wine. I absolutely love their homemade soups. I think that’s the secret to their homy feel.

Quaint new gourmet grocery store in the area! There’s another location in the Mile End, but this is the first I’ve ever heard of it. Walked in on a whim to check it out, and of course I left with an organic Le Castor beer(visited the microbrewery in the past and loved it), as well as a French Nose wine par Julia. They have a sweet selection and quite a variety, I can’t say I’ve tried anything but I definitely plan to go back and pick up a few things ranging from cheese to charcuterie and, most definitely, build a nice collection of their beers — something that this area lacks. It’s a small little place and pricey as well, depending on what you get, however it is not your average grocery store either and some things in there are a steal! Definitely recommend it, and I’m sure in time it’ll only get better and better, since they just recently opened.

Another serendipitous moment in my food and travel finds repertoire. Walking down one of Montréal’s well known streets called Sherbrooke in an area termed the«Golden Square Mile», I was handed a well put together menu like flyer. I discovered shortly thereafter that this was no restaurant or ordinary quick-mart. Located in a former art gallery and under a highend cigar shop the brand new Latina Gourmet Store fits in seamlessly. Whether it be before or after a visit to the Musée des Beaux Arts or Holt Renfrew or even classes at McGill or Concordia Universities(well situated near both and they are promoting a 10% student special). Let’s not kid ourselves this is a high end gourmet grocery store. When meat is aged 40 days and items are placed with surgical perfection you can’t expect to have a «depanneur» experience(or pay the same prices). This place is an experience and real pleasure to walk through. I plan on doing so again soon. Speaking of fine arts museums, this store suits that genre, for the art of food display. Fresh, clean and proper are all apparent understatements. At quick run through they have a compact yet excellent looking fresh baked goods area, coffee and tea section, cheeses, veggies, canned and boxed items, said aged meat counter, a cool looking wine display, dairy, seafood and on an on. I’ll give you a better run down of what they carry when I return. The space is not huge, but since the ceilings are high it all fits cozily(yet the air is fresh and cool enough that a sweater is requisite if staying longer than for a coffee and ‘pain au chocolat’. Their grand opening wine and cheese starts at 5:30pm September 18th, 2014
