Boulangerie Première Moisson

Je suis passée par cette boulangerie car mon habituelle était fermée ce jour-​là. J’ai testé un croissant car c’est vraiment mon péché mignon… Malheureusement je n’ai pas été conquise, un croissant classique rien de wouah ! Ça restera la boulangerie de secours.

Je fréquente cette boulangerie depuis plusieurs années et j’en suis très satisfaite. J’apprécie particulièrement les différents pains. On y trouve un large assortiment de pains frais et savoureux plus classiques, mais l’endroit offre aussi une panoplie de pains aromatisés selon le mois. On a donc toujours des surprises en arrivant devant le comptoir. Mon préféré dans les pains réguliers est le pain intégral au levain (bio). Tellement savoureux qu’on le mangerait seul! Mon préféré dans les pains spéciaux: définitivement celui «César», tellement cochon! J’avais des doutes au départ, mais nous avons finalement englouti la petite baguette en quelques minutes!
Je suis toutefois un peu moins enchantée par la sélection de desserts et viennoiseries. Je trouve que les pâtisseries manquent de goût, de punch… Il y a la jardinière qui est bonne, mais tous les autres dessers que jai goûtées étaient plutôt décevantes. L’endroit est quand même agréable pour prendre le temps de s’asseoir, surtout avec le genre de solarium à l’avant. Je vous conseille d’aller y faire un petit tour!

Outstanding bakery and pastries, as well as a great selection of fine groceries (jams, pickles, cheeses, cold cuts)
Not so impressed with their prepared salads (Greek one was very oily and not even sure it was pure virgin olive oil).
Overall we liked the place and will come back whenever we are in Montréal.

This location of Première Moisson has all the usual plusses — great pastries and lunch food, tasty hot coffee, free wifi. But its sun-​soaked seating is a real delight. In this city, where winter often dominates with its grey cloudy gloom, it’s a treat to sit in a warm windowed room and let the traces of sun lift your spirits.
Lots of seating, and off the beaten path, so you’re sure to find a place to kick back and enjoy your chocolatine and dream about spring.

On my last morning in Montréal, my body needed fuel. Fuel in the form of croissants and coffee.
My host directed my friends and I to this bakery between her apartment and our destination downtown.
I expected a small bakery, but this place has it all: a deli counter, coolers full of cheese, bakery and dessert cases, fresh breads, and coffee and espresso offerings.
Montréal, you have so much of this. Can we import just one of your stores? I promise to take care of it.
We ordered plentifully: two chocolate croissants, two almond croissants, what we thought was a blueberry croissant (those were actually chocolate chips), a latte, and a mocha. The line was long and a bit slow, but it’s because the staff was taking good care of each customer and their orders.
I started with half of a chocolate croissant — perfect! A thin layer of dark, rich chocolate inside an airy but firm exterior. Then on to the almond. I thought it would just be almond flavored, or maybe it only contained the almond slivers sprinkled atop the croissant, but no, it also had an almond filling. Similar to marzipan, but not so dense or rich. It was still light overall. I savored this.
The mocha was the best I’d had since my last visit to Portland several years ago. I could tell it would be good when she pulled out the clear container of cocoa powder, which was a lovely deep brown color. That, paired with a high-​quality shot of espresso, was just the fuel I needed to begin my Sunday.
