Midwifery Care Of Peel & Halton Hills

As soon as I found out that I was pregnant, I called to put myself on the waiting list for midwifery care. I heard raving reviews from my friends and decided to choose a midwife over the conventional obstetrician. Towards the end of my preganacy, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and was transferred back to the care of the OB, but the team of midwives still came to my delivery (provided a soothing voice by the side of my ear while everyone else was yelling at me to push harder) and was the only healthcare professional to stay in my birthing suite after my baby was delivered (my OB and 5 nurses all disappeared!). My midwife taught me how to breastfeed and hold my baby right after delivery. They came to visit me again at the hospital before I was discharged, came for home visits every other day until my baby was 2 weeks old, then I started going to the clinic for weekly visits. The midwives at this clinic were amazing! Tentative to my every need and preganacy-​related complication or questions. I don’t know what would’ve happened if I had to call the OB or wait at the ER every time I had a question or had a panic attack over what was happening to my newborn. If you’re pregnant, call this midwife clinic and try to get into their care right away!
