We went to the clinic at 6:20 and were almost turned away, although the clinic closes at 7pm! The receptionist, whom we spoke to just 10 minutes before to confirm we could come in, was going to deny us entry because the doctor was already doing x-rays for a patient. Her reasoning was that«it was too late» because the clinic was going to close soon … um … it was only 6:20 … I don’t believe you close until 7pm. I believe her intentions behind refusing us was because we were encroaching on her«personal time» … when we arrived and went to reception, she glanced up at us and continued to text on her phone before acknowledging our presence. After arguing with her for a bit to say that we had specifically called and were told we could come in, she grudgingly went to ask the doctor if we could be admitted. We got in, but sadly the family that came after us at 6:30pm did not. They came in, tried to get one x-ray done but were told the same thing — a patient is already with the doctor — we cannot take you as we are closing soon. They then said, if my husband wasn’t already in there, they could have gotten in – which may or may not have been true, considering she used that same excuse to attempt to deny us entry as well. The family tried to push as well, but ended up leaving … and about 3 – 5 minutes after they left, my husband came out! So there was definitely enough time to squeeze another person in. I’m not sure how clinics are run, but I found the behaviour of the receptionist to be rather off-putting and her treatment of patients appalling. Maybe doctors’ offices are different, but I’m pretty sure they take patients up until they close … and not throw them out 30 – 40 minutes before the posted closing time. Having a closing time that isn’t accurate is confusing for patients, especially if special travel was arranged to get there. If anything, have a posting/sign/warning or information stating that the last patient will be taken at half an hour before closing or whatever the case may be, so that future patients know what to expect.
