In the upstairs food court of Pacific Mall, I got the original waffle with vanilla ice cream($ 5.65 after tax). Pretty pricey, for just a waffle and ice cream, though it was pretty filling. The only good about this was the presentation– it looks better than it tastes. The waffle was a cakey texture, very dense and chewy like a muffin. I personally like my waffles light and crispy, no? The ice cream was also rich and sticky and I can taste that it is commercialized ice cream. I won’t come here again. It is overpriced, and I’d prefer to eat the waffles from my freezer.

I invited my family and friends to this location for what I thought were some of the best Belgian waffles, boy was I not wrong. The waffle was small to begin with, which is fine, but it was nowhere to delicious. The caramel and chocolate dips on the waffles were way too sweet. The presentation of the waffles were also poor. The server asked me if the waffles were to go or eat-in, I told him eat-in but he still put them in plastic containers. The look of the waffles in plastic contains make the waffles look cheap and non-delicious at all. These waffles are not worth the price I paid for.

This location doesn’t compare to its counterparts downtown. I tried ordering a cinnamon waffle that they had listed on their menu only to find out they weren’t offering any flavoured waffles. I had to settle for the vanilla waffle, which was not very good. A little burnt on the outside and dense and mushy on the inside rather than light and fluffy. It didn’t seem like the waffle was fully cooked on the inside.

I feel weird saying this… That Blondie cook is pretty CUTE and photogenic. This Wanda’s stall is like his stage as if he is on stage like a Back Street Boy. He wasn’t showing off for me, but my Foreign Friend found him a good attraction. The Waffle and Crepes he makes aren’t bad either. Wanda’s Original Waffle with Ice Cream($ 3.99) where the original price($ 4.79) was crossed off and written over. Excellent, I save money and get an good snack that I’ve had previously along Yonge street at their Downtown locations. This one is my favourite so far due to value and entertainment level. 3.5 *Star* My friend never had a Belgian style Waffle before so it was a different experience than let’s say Pancakes or Eggo Waffles. Commented that it was almost like a Cake while the big scoop of Ice Cream disappeared quickly right before my eyes.

Waffles are pretty good, made to order, crunchy on the outside and dense inside as they should be. Get it with ice cream if you love ice cream; they pile a giant scoop of Breyers on top of a waffle for $ 3.99($ 4.99 for premium flavours). I find some are too rich too sweet(e.g. Rolo) and drowns the flavour of waffles. The guy who mans the shop is super nice. I hope this place sticks around and makes it. Even though Chinese(i.e. older generations) generally don’t like sweet stuff, the young ones do and a lot of them hang around in Pacific Mall.

Wanda’s Belgain Waffles does look a little out of place in the food court of Pacific Mall! Not just the serving of Western dessert in the middle of Chinese food offerings and its location really not cool. I could not find it first time when I was looking for it. I ended up at Beard Papa instead. The Waffles here are ok. I have better one. I wish mine a little more crispy and brown outside. My request of ice cream not on the top, chocolate syrup only on the waffles but not the ice cream was happy obliged. My server is nice and friendly and have a nice smile. The vanilla ice cream is really good and the scoop is huge! ^0^ And for $ 3.99 it is a great dessert to share with a friend and then you can get something else like a Beard Papa’s cream puff? I have to say that I am quite happy that Wanda’s Belgain Waffles do decide to open up a location up here in Markham. I wish other neat Downtown food place will start opening up some shops here in the suburbs!
