Unionville Library

3 Stars for Décor… It needs some renovating, updating, paint, new signage… carpet. Kids playing corner could be better organized and opened up more.
5 stars for location and people who work there are really nice.

Parking is horrible.
People don’t know how to park their cars next to others… Gross.
I rather walk to attend this library.
Or park elsewhere.

Nice little library, I remember coming here as a kid back in elementary school with my classmates.
It is now 2015 and they have updated computers with free WiFi for your laptop/​device. They have an entire shelf of DVD’s to borrow, and the latest releases are on the ‘Boomerang’ stand closest to the entrance. You can hold your books online, and have them transferred to another location for pick up (takes a few days for the transfer to complete).

I think the selection of books at Toronto Public Library is still better than here at Markham Public Library, though its understandable since Markham is smaller. Would like to see them combine the selection in the future.
I just realized Markham residents can also borrow from Richmond Hill Public Library, Aurora Public Library and possibly others in the Greater Toronto Area.
This location has been kept pretty well all these years. Actually even nicer now than I last remembered it. Friendly staff. Has a nice fountain behind it.

This place is becoming my home away from home. Of all the Markham libraries, they always have the books I’m looking for in stock. Wireless internet here is very unstable and most of the time I can’t connect. But other than that, the staff here are really pleasant and helpful, the atmosphere is great, with walking trails nearby if you need to take a break from studying, and Main St. Unionville to grab some food or do a little shopping.

There is something dreadfully appealing about this one, because it tucked away and a nice stroll from Historic Unionville.
The space in the library is airy with all the media and the help desk equidistant and smack in the middle with the bookshelves off to the sides.
They have lots of checkout kiosks, so wait-​wise it wasn’t that bad to check out the things I wanted to borrow.
I noticed that human traffic-​wise this place has a lot more people visiting than the other branches I have been to; however noise level wise — it never really raises about a murmer.
On my library meter this one hits a solid 7 out of 10 — my 10 being the North York Central Library.

I don’t know why I always have problem locating Unionville Branch of the Markham Library with my pre-​GPS era.
Tucked inside Old Unionville, trying to blend with surrounding country styled small town architecture, the library itself does look like one of the bigger bungalows in the area from outside.
The library itself is only 1 level, so compare to the newly renovated library, it is a lot smaller. Love the open area with high ceiling where the administrative area located.
The seatings here are more formal with tables and chairs and lack of those really comfy laptop friendly armchair seating compare to the newer libraries in the area.
However, superfast/​reliable/​free Wifi access! Great for posting Unilocal photos and doing reviews…
Less students hanging around in group studying, there are not too many private group study rooms but it might be a blessing if you want some peace and quiet!
