$ 12 for a 1lb mango mousse cake with fruits on top(pineapple, kiwi, cherry, peach, strawberry). Cashier asked if we wanted a plastic happy birthday sign and candles. That was nice. They have a stamp card where if you buy $ 8 worth of baked goods, you get a stamp. I doubt they give you two if you buy $ 16 in one go. If you collect 12 stamps, you get $ 8 worth of baked goods. They only had 4 cake options. Each was 1 lb. Black forest, mixed fruit, mango were $ 12. taro was $ 14. The cake was pretty good, considering it was $ 12. I wish there was more mango flavor though. That being said, I’d totally buy cake from here again.

After having Momofuku’s Pork Belly Bun($ 10) in NYC, my Unilocal buddy knows that I have been daydreaming every night to indulge myself into more fatty goodness… But this is Scarborough/Markham… the land where we can find cheap Chinese food… so a $ 2 Taiwan Taco seems to be a much better choice. I have to admit I like this cheaper version much better. the pork so soft and tender. since it was braised it has flavours even without any sauces. The whole taco is just a mixture of different tastes: Pork — Saltiness Pickled Greens — Sour Peanuts — Sweet and Crunchy Steamed Bun — comforting Soft Which make eating this Taiwanese bun a complex tasting experience. And for $ 2? It makes an excellent snacks! If I can put it in the microwave and warm it up a little, it will taste better for sure!

Jin Cheng seems to be your typical Chinese Bakery however if you pay a bit more attention to detail, you’ll then notice the Logo and the Chinese description then you’ll find out it’s more distinctive Taiwanese. I’m not sure how authentic but nonetheless it states Taoyuan which is a Taiwanese County and you’ll see the Taiwanese Snacks in Gift Packaging displayed right at the entrance. Gua Bao($ 2) is more popularly known as Taiwan Burger/Taco which is a Braised Pork Belly, Pickled Mustard Greens, and Sugary Roasted Peanuts in a Chinese Steam Bun. They had this right at the register and I decided to give it a try and it was pretty good savoury snack combination although it seems that the ones here are not the FATTY Pork Belly variety but the more lean version. Each element of this snack brings a little bit of something to the Taco and definitely something for the Foodie to try when within this Taiwan plaza common known as Metro Square. There are other Chinese Bakery Buns and Pastries available as well. The Gua Bao wasn’t on a warming tray so if you wish to, bring it home to just give it some slight heat. Enjoy!
