This place is awesome! I’ve never come by during the lunch time rush but stopped by one evening before Covent Garden closed(around 6PM) and so glad that I did. It’s super affordable($ 5 soup and sandwich combo, or $ 3 for soup alone) and they have a large variety of soups! I got the butternut squash that day and it was hearty, delicious, and not too salty(which I tend to find with a lot of soups). Totally worth the price, totally worth the stop — can’t wait to go back and try more again. Highly recommend!

Downtown has many options for those seeking a great meal. Sometimes though you just want something hot, hearty and cheap! Piping Kettle Soup has you covered. From sandwiches to soup and even some salads they have many fresh options to keep your heart and stomach happy… not to mention your wallet. I always go for the small soup & small sandwich deal which runs you about $ 5.25 + taxes. It is proper portions this way and easy on the cash flow. But don’t let that fool you because it’s filling as… well, yeah it’s filling: D I’m a Jambalaya girl myself, the sausage, chicken, veggies and warmly spiced broth will kick ya into gear. The broc & cheddar is a sweet classic that you can’t go wrong with. Seasonal highlights that they carry from time to time include: Maple Sausage & Lentil, Apple Cheddar, Butternut Squash and the one I had today Irish Potato. as after all this is the month of St. Patty Day. The Irish Potato for me was a bit to heavy on the cabbage, but with the leeks and potato in the creamy soup tasted of yummy scallop potatoes. Where they lose one star is I have been going here for years and I always go for the pulled pork sandwich. It is the tenderest pulled pork in town. Over the last year they have changed the rub to this curry mix that I am not loving as much as their old tangy & peppery one. Not sure why the change but… least it still texture wise the same. All and all Piping Kettle at the market is a definite comfort any time of year.

Since moving to the Forest City, I’ve always enjoyed coming downtown to the Covent Garden Market! Walked around a few times then when I came with a friend for the first time, they pointed out this place. I always stick to my favourite, the broccoli and cheddar soup & a small pulled chicken sandwich. It’s my absolute favourite! I got the medium sized combo today, thinking I was hungry, and it was just too much for me! I’m going to go with the small next time. The soup was hearty and cheesy(just the way I like it!) and the sandwich was warm and delicious! Topping options were great and the atmosphere in the market is as always, pleasant, and busy! I’ll definitely be back!

I’m almost afraid to write a review for fear these guys will get further overrun with business and I’ll never get a seat in their restaurant again. I enjoyed the Piping Kettle at the market but LOVE the new location on Commissioners(near Wellington). The only issue is the place is so busy and packed at lunch hour you sometimes can’t get a seat. Dropping by at 1:00, that isn’t as much of a problem. These guys make fantastic, HOMEMADE soup. Healthy choices at prices literally cheaper than McDonald’s. Every day there is a special for $ 5 taxes in, which includes a small soup and small sandwich. Add a pop or water and you’re at $ 6 for a healthy, delicious lunch. I’ve yet to bring a friend that hasn’t absolutely loved it and returned. As long as quality doesn’t suffer with expansion, I’ll be there often.

Delicious soups with okay sandwiches. LOVE their salmon chowder! Their small soup and sandwich combo for $ 5 after taxes is the perfect amount of food for a satisfying but not overfilling lunch. My only complaints are the lack of bread selection(only white or wheat) and they only have cheddar cheese. With a cheese vendor nearby in the market you’d think they could offer more selection! I will definitely be a regular here though and highly recommend it if you’re in Covent Market.

Been a fan of Piping Kettle for a couple years now. My wife and I would stop in for a bowl of soup every time we visited the Covent Garden market. Some soups stand above the others but we have never made a bad selection. When I saw that a new location opened up in the plaza on the southwest corner of Wellington and Commissioners I was very excited. Now it’s just a quick trip from work for me to enjoy a bowl of soup. Been twice this week alone to have their soup and sandwich combo.

Yum yum, yum yum!!! Great quality and tasty creations! They will let you sample the flavors before you decide and will even mix multiple soups in a container for you!(This has wound up making some of my favourite concoctions!) Their sandwiches are just mediocre. If you want a solid substance to nosh with your liquid lunch I would recommend getting it from one of the nearby vendors. But for soups… Piping Kettles is tops!

I really enjoy their lentil soup — big hearty broth with chunky potato bits and tons of other veggies. The cream of broccoli is also very delicious. Their location in the Covent Garden Market makes it ideal to grab a bowl on your lunch break that’ll fill you up proper. You can also purchase bread and/or they will prepare you a sandwich. Each day has different selections of soups and/or chilis so it’s worth going back to see what’s available.

Great for a fast, good quality lunch in the Covent Garden Market. Tried the goulash here, and it was not bad at all for a meal that you can order & finish in ten minutes flat. Would definitely recommend if you’re shopping in the area anyway and need a quick, tasty bite.
