You ever have that experience when you’re driving by that you see an interesting window display and make a note to check the place out?
That happens to me a lot, and sometimes depending on my interest or time, I can go back to check the place out very soon afterwards or it may take me months to get around to it.

Finding these second-​hand bookshops which carry literate titles, children’s classics, contemporary classics as well as the hokey romance novels is getting harder and harder in the age of buyyourbookonline dot com or generic mega-​box book stores. The experience which real bibliophiles have, of walking into a store, crammed from floor to ceiling with old books, new books and more books, every available surface covered with tomes in all shapes and sizes is becoming rarer and rarer. Corporate booksellers often forget what a sensual experience book shopping really is for avid readers.
It’s not just about finding a title. It’s about the smell of old paper, the handling of a book and how it feels in your hands, it’s that «A-​ha!» moment of stummbling upon an old title or out-​of-​print edition you’ve been searching for ages.
Bronx Books is the sort of place you could easily lose yourself in for hours especially on a rainy day. You may walk away with some great titles like I did a few days ago or you may walk away empty-​handed. Like all second-​hand shopping, it’s hit or miss and checking frequently or luck and timing have a lot to do with it.
If you expect your bookshop sterile and well-​organized with all the latest bestsellers on prominent display for you, then don’t come here. If on the other hand, you enjoyed treasure hunts when you were a kid, don’t mind dealing with a little chaos and a no-​frills approach to uncover that treasure, then by all means check out Bronx Books.
