Food is OK, but when you order off the internet beware. The price at the store is quite different and they use the excuse that the website is old. We paid an extra $ 8 on what we thought was going to be a $ 25 order. Don’t order the rainbow either. It’s a glorified California roll with a thin slice of avocado or Salmon laid over it, definitely not worth $ 9.

It serves it purpose well… fast and cheap + healthy. Far better then Micky D’s

It’s quick service but the food is a bit bland. It’s good enough if you’re craving a fix.

I’m not really sure what to rate Sushi 199 To Go as. For under $ 10 for a large amount of food, you could probably do much worse. However, comparing it to the Osaka Supermarket sushi in Richmond(surprisingly good) as well as the slightly more expensive but consistent Ichibankan Sushi to-go near VGH, Sushi 199 To Go’s best thing going for it is the price. $ 4 for 12 pieces?! Seriously?! The poor grad student in me rejoices for prices like that. I had Combo A, which included Dynamite Roll, California roll, and Spicy Tuna Roll. My favourite of the 3 was probably the spicy tuna. I agree with Derek W. that the tempura in the dynamite roll was a little soggy, although I liked that they added tamago in there for some extra flavour. The California rolls were pretty standard, but a little loosely rolled so they fell apart really easily. There appear to be a lot of sushi places in the surrounding area so I might try those next, but I wouldn’t cross Sushi 199 off my list completely.

Extremely cheap. Fairly fast. Not bad tasting. What more is there to say? I’m a fan of Sushi 199 to Go because they provide inexpensive, reasonably tasting rolls for little more than pocket change. To be honest, only a couple things on the menu are priced at $ 1.99, but those include California Rolls and Kappa Maki — there’s a good, light, healthy meal right there. –Stay away from the Dynamite Rolls… the tempura is soggy. –I love how they add a slice or two of cucumber to the spicy salmon rolls to give them some crunch. –They get busy right after 5pm, so give yourself an extra few minutes around that time. –I’ve never had the sashimi, but I presume at these prices it is not worth having.
