We had called another repair service about a leak underneath our dishwasher. After explaining the situation in detail, we were told that we would be much better off just replacing the whole unit, which for a comparable unit would have costed us well north of $ 1,000. So we called Harry, who came the next business day and did a professional repair job with better parts for only $ 200. We could not be happier.

I have a KitchenAid Retractable Hood Fan which has never been used except to raise and lower to show a dozen friends/relatives. When the unit would not work after 1 yr + 1 month(it probably stopped working long before this but we never use it so I had not noticed that it was NOT working until I went to sell my house), I called the Service Centre and they refused to do the work under warranty so I was stuck with the cost of repairing this«brand new» appliance. Being skeptical of the quality of this product after what was happening, I still had to get it repaired as it was a $ 1,600 appliance and I had to have it working in order to sell my house. Even though I told the Service Centre the Make, Model and Year of the unit, they sent a repairman who knew nothing about the appliance. He poked around for 1 hour and finally told me that I needed to replace the Switch, which he would order and required another service call to install. He was obviously grasping at straws since he clearly did not know what was wrong and he stated that this solution may or may not fix the problem. Whirlpool, the parent company, must think that their customers are stupid enough to «gladly» pay for«fishing trips» to educate their repairmen. Lord only knows how many more visits it would have taken for them to actually figure out and fix the problem at $ 400-$ 500 a visit. They clearly have an incentive to drag this on for as long as possible. The repairman was clueless as to how p***ed I was at his obvious ineptitude and the possibility of paying a fortune to witness even more of his ineptness. With the realization of this company’s total lack of knowledge and their lack of concern for their Customer’s anxiety at the possible burgeoning cost of repairs, I knew I had to find a solution other than through them. On Hari’s first 1-hr visit, he diagnosed the problem as a failure of power between the transformer and the motor. He knew it was not the Switch, as the Whirlpool repairman had diagnosed/“guessed”. On his way out the door to his next appointment, Hari asked me to send him the schematics for the hood fan so that he could have a look at how the wiring should have been done. When Hari came back after studying the wiring diagram, he immediately zeroed in on the problem and fixed it in just over 30 minutes. KitchenAid’s initial installer had not been diligent enough at his work and left some wires open which were touching each other and causing shorts so that the unit could only work intermittently at first and finally not at all. This appliance has now cost me over $ 2,000 plus the cost of the initial installation but it could clearly have cost me a lot more if I had not called Harry’s Appliance Service to do the repair. I found Hari to be very knowledgeable about appliances in general, courteous and polite to the customer, and logical and methodical in his thinking process to finding a solution for repairing appliances. I do sympathize with CT from Vancouver in regard to property damage as I noticed while Hari was working that he was leaning excessively on a board in my cabinet which could have broken during the repair. Hari informed me that it was very difficult to get at the unit and sometimes things get damaged to get at the defective part. I agreed that the unit was in a very awkward place and was very grateful that no damage was done during my repair. I would still highly recommend this company to anyone who needed a good, honest, quick and reasonable repair job for an appliance. I will definitely be calling them again if I ever have another appliance that needed repair.

I am always afraid to get repair people because you never know what you’re going to get. I am so happy to have found Harry. When I called, I talked to a delightful person who took my information and he was at our house the next morning. Took the time to explain what he was doing. He didn’t want us to do anything that wasn’t necessary. Came out on the Easter long weekend but his price did not reflect that. Pleasant, honest, punctual. It was a process to find out why our ice maker wasn’t working(on a two year old whirlpool). He worked with us to fix the problem and I just heard ice drop. Happy dance! Thank you Harry! I will be recommending you to anyone I can and will be calling you again! As an added bonus, we had a small issue with our dishwasher. He went to his van, came back and badabing badaboom, it was fixed too!

Nice enough guy but not very good at repairing appliances or not damaging your house in the process. Diagnosed the(obvious) failed fridge part, but could not install the part correctly and attempted to jerryrig it back together with incorrect thread screws and chunks of styrofoam. I questioned whether it would actually work and not freeze everything in my fridge when not seated correctly but he basically mumbled his way out the door and had taken payment up front for the job. Scratched up my hardwood floor repeatedly after having complimenting me on the house, and by the second visit I was actually suggesting methods to him to avoid continued damage. Seriously unimpressive level of competence. In the end I just wanted him gone as I had guests arriving and no more patience for him. So after confirming his failure the next day(my fridge contents started freezing up) I disassembled the fridge and fixed it myself. Turns out he had dropped the missing screw into my fridge, which I fished out and reassembled properly… all has been perfect since. Harry should have paid me for this epic failure of a service call.
