Terra Restaurant

Amazing service. The food was beautifully plated, and totally amazing. Locally sourced beer and wine. Absolutely the best food in Kamloops and so enjoyable.

Delicious food, friendly and knowledgeable staff! What more could you want? Lovely restaurant for a date night or a night out with friends. The vibe is high-​end without being pretentious and the staff really takes the time to get to know the guests and education them on the menu. I wasn’t able to drink while I was there which was incredibly hard because the wine list looked fantastic and the servers definitely know about local wine. Go treat yourself and a loved one!

Terra Restaurant was a wonderful surprise for us! I just wish we’d brought our phones so that we could have taken pictures of the lovely presentation of each dish! I had the soup of the day — vegetable soup, with what I would call an apple fritter in the middle, and lime cream swirl — sounds a bit odd? It was awesome — what a taste thrill! My husband had the ahi tuna Niçoise salad — again, awesome! We both had the cod — beautifully done, over a prawn risotto, with some tiny seasonal veges. Compliments to the chef!
The wines at Terra are all locally produced in Canada — and the Pinot Noir that we had was excellent — Privata. To finish off our lovely meal, we ordered the cheese plate for dessert, as we had wine left. WOW — this is a do not miss item! A variety of cheeses, thinly sliced fruit, some compote (fig & onion), raspberries, blackberries and olives with fresh made bread. The chef and kitchen changed up the cheese plate a bit because we were having it for dessert — a perfect end to an excellent meal!
Our service was also great — I’m sorry that I do not remember the gentleman’s name, but he was informative, enthusiastic and provided wonderful service.

Had a great dinner tonight at Terra. Coming from SF, I didn’t expect anything like in Kamloops. In fact, this restaurant would kick A in San Francisco. Great concept of having meals prepared exclusively from locally grown producers. Great presentation and service.

Excellent food, fresh, delicious, imaginative, and nicely presented. Not cheap, but not absurdly expensive given the quality of the offerings. Service was a tad slow, but I prefer that to the rushed atmosphere of so many places.

Definitely the best dinner I have had in Kamloops. Very good stake. Good food, nicely decorated, perfectly done. Nice staff and environment. The only reason I gave them ⁴⁄₅ was the floor vibration (table in the middle of the room shakes) and the music that even though very nice but a bit too loud.
I am a critical reviewer after all.

Our favorite place for fine dinning in kamloops. Great service and the attention to detail in the food is amazing. The last meal I had there was one of the best meals I’ve had in my life.

Definitely did not expect this gem in Kamloops. The food was excellent, although portions were probably a bit smaller than I would normally expect.
I had the Caesar salad and my wife had the beet salad. Both were first class
Main courses were gnocchi and the duck. Again these were both enjoyable (although the duck confit didn’t get anywhere close to what I experienced in Luxembourg)
I would be a regular if we lived in Kamloops.

One of the best places in Kamloops. Great BC food and wine. Good for both lunch and dinner. Will definately go back

If you’re into FRESH, ORGANIC, LOCAL, IN-​SEASON, PERFECTLY prepared food, you HAVE to eat here! The service was outstanding, pairing every dish with the most complimentary wine. I appreciated that the chef came to ask how the food was. The ambiance was classy and cozy at the same time. I left with such a good vibe! I will definitely come back EVERY time I’m in Kamloops!

What a gem! By far a fantastic restaurant for any town or city. Fresh farm to table organic food beautifully prepared. Perfect portions. The best service I have ever had! The top two recommendations in town were Terra and the Brownstone. We selected Terra based on the farm to table and were thrilled with our choice.
We were on a schedule and our server made sure we finished in time to catch our shuttle back to the hotel. Plus, she went above and beyond by bringing our table extra samples of the things we loved and couldn’t get enough of.
We had the roasted beet salad, chicken breast & risotto and catch of the day halibut. Other specials on the menu were duck, steak, and leg of lamb.
While a train layover makes Jasper most likely a once in a lifetime experience, this restaurant is something to look forward to if in Jasper.

My husband and I always check Unilocal for restaurant reviews when we’re visiting a new city and it hasn’t steered us wrong yet. We loved our meals at Terra! Perfectly cooked, delicious flavours and local products whenever possible. I had their catch special which was grey cod and my husband had lobster bisque and the ricotta ravioli (farm). Yum!!! Our server was also great, knowledgable and pleasant. We highly recommend eating there!

Not a restaurant one might expect in Kamloops, but Terra would fit in perfectly in a foodie city. Stopped here for dinner by myself, and the tuna tartare and bison carpaccio starters on the menu caught my eye, so I decided to get those two I instead of an entrée (as well as the soup, which was very tasty) and I did not regret it. Both were executed perfectly, well seasoned and used very fresh, high quality ingredients. The presentation was so beautiful, I almost didn’t want to eat them.
The space and ambience is very tasteful elegant, but still casual and comfortable. My server was very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive, and ensured a great dining experience. I hope I will get a chance to stop by again. Recommended.

Came here for dinner on a Wednesday night. Tanya made us feel at home right away.
The special that night was a grey cod with prawn risotto.
. The grey cod, after speaking to the chef afterwards, is very similar to sablefish.
The prawn risotto was also perfectly made and was so flavorful.
For dessert, I had the lemon tart, who Tanya introduced as «gorgeous»…so how could I refuse. It had raspberries and a nice cram side. The tart was just sweet enough but not enough to overpower the great crust.
So good. What a place. Will definitely come back again.

we had a lovely meal one evening, while passing through Kamloops. We would heartily recommend it, both for the food and for the nice walk through the downtown. The service was friendly and knowledgeable, and the drinks were nice, too.

We decided to go here last-​minute, based on reviews on Unilocal (Fri, Jul ¹⁹⁄₂₀₁₃). They accommodated a group of nine at the last minute (45 mins notice) — the food and service were outstanding. The wine list is a bit limited but there were a few good wines available. Walking distance from many hotels (we were at Hotel 540). Highly recommend this place if you are in Kamloops.

2^nd visit, sandwiches only for lunch with several salad options. Had the island chicken on a bun, very good. Papaya cole slaw had no papaya or cabbage, shredded lettuce in a lime dressing only

Read some impressive reviews on Terra. So we decided to give it a try. Terra is located in Kamloops downtown. Amongst the restaurant and café district on Victoria Street. The space is very unique. Felt like it was a theatre lobby or some sort of department store retail front. Very smart use of space. I especially like the «East and West wing window front spot» where they have high tables and stools for lounge or night drink sitting. Waitress was very friendly, especially we are a family group showed up at a fine dining restaurant. We ordered angus steaks and salmon dishes. Both were superbly done. Head chef was very professional. He actually came to our table to check on us, and afterwards, I spied him constantly checking the whole dining room through his kitchen window. What more can you ask for, in a fine dine environment?
Will most definitely return!

Was enroute to Kamloops to visit family and stumbled upon Terra — what luck! We had one of our best meals ever.
Terra focuses on locally grown and seasonal foods so the menu is constantly changing. There was a good selection of land and sea mains as well as a vegetarian offering. But what impressed me was the Chef Table tasting menu — a highly customized experience. I have many food allergies so it was wonderful to discuss these directly with the Chef and have them prepare a selection of foods for me. I started with a seared tuna salad, followed by a halbut in a ginger sauce and a main of lamb on a bed of quinoa with seasonal vegetables. Dessert was a simple berry plate. It was the perfect amount of food and good value at $ 39.
My dining partners were less adventurous, both sticking to the Julius Caesar salad and steaks — but these were prepared perfectly. The desserts were also wonderful and the cheesecake was served in a little glass canning jar — a serving idea that I plan to borrow for my next dinner party.
Our waitress was very attentive and friendly even though it was a very busy room. Highly recommend this place for anyone who appreciates local, fresh food and especially those with allergies or special diets.

Just attended the Summerhill Summer Solstice wine tasting dinner at Terra. As always Dave and Andrea, owners of Terra, were in fine form. From the first sip of Cipes Brut to the last bite of buttermilk biscuit with fresh berries and cream, the entire meal was a knockout.
Terra’s commitment to serving locally produced food is second to none in Kamloops. Beets for our appetizer had been pulled out of the ground at Thistle Farms that morning. Dave also sources local meats and BC dairy.
Aside from the fabulous food and wine the service was outstanding. One of my party has some serious dietary restrictions and the staff made sure she was accomodated with no fuss and without making her uncomfortable. In all the servers kept everything running smoothly, easily moving the courses along and keeping the whole room content and satisfied.
Can’t wait for the next winemakers dinner in July!
