I have heard that Hamilton is the waterfall capital of Ontario, well I didn’t believe it until I saw this area. I came after work with my man and we had an amazing time. This is a great place for a hike, a friends or family gathering or a picnic. I love seeing all of the local history displayed around the park(although seeing how full the falls were five years ago is a little sad). The area is clean and well taken care of. There are hiking trails along the gorge and some amazing picturesque views. I recommend coming here on a weekday because the weekends can be a little crowded. Grab a latte and take a look, it is really worth your time and effort.

I’m a big BIG fan of watching water fall. I recently found out Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe is the largest in the world, very impressive. Largest I’ve seen so far is Niagara Falls but when I arrived at Tews Falls, I found that it was not the size that matters. It’s the scenic beauty and this one was as good if not better thanks to less tourist traffic. Tews Falls reminds me of Ryu in the closing credits of Street Fighter but if he read the signs he should know not to enter the water. It was soothing to hear the falls and if I weren’t in a rush, I wouldn’t of had time to meditate and achieve enlightenment or at the very least a nice nap on a beautiful day.

If you are looking a great place to hike, I would recommend Tew falls. The park includes other hiking trails to lookout points. The hike is fairly easy with clean wide trails and lots of greenery for shade. Our hike was not too long to the peaceful Tew falls although the day we went it was a bit crowded with large families. The parking was reasonable with an admission fee of $ 10 for car to access park and park nearby. If you are looking for a place to hike in the greater Niagara region, Tew falls is perfect for the commute where you also get to enjoy the drive through Dundas. I’ve been here before once before and the second time was no disappointment. Definitely recommend to go to for a relaxing hike on a nice fall day where the leaves are falling and turning red and yellow.

Tews Falls is quite accessible even if you don’t feel like walking in the heat for miles. A small parking lot where you can park with less than 5 minutes walk to the observation platform. From here you can walk over to Dundas Peak Overlook. The falls itself is quite pretty and it was soothing to listen to the sound of the waterfall. A portable toilet is set up at the parking lot area if there is an emergency.

Ontario, Canada Tew’s Falls is located inside the Spencer Gorge Conservation Area approximately 57 miles from Niagara Falls. It is part of a trail system that includes Webster’s Falls and the Dundas Peak Overlook. Paid parking is required for this conservation area at a cost of $ 10/car using an electronic ticketing kiosk that takes cash or credit card. If you prefer not to hike the ½ mile trail connecting the waterfalls, each has its own parking area and you can use your parking ticket at either. However, the overlook can only be reached by hiking which starts by walking up a set of steps nearest to Tew’s Falls. From the observation area, it is somewhat difficult at either waterfall to get a full picture of the falls without vegetation getting partially in the way. I felt very tempted to climb the fence to get closer, but the drops here are deadly steep. One slip and I seriously doubt if anyone could recover before plummeting to uncertain injury or death. However, find the steps to the left of Tew’s Falls and you will discover a second observation platform where you can get a much better(unobstructed) view. Tew’s Fall is approximately 135 feet tall and 30 feet wide. I’m told the falls are best viewed in the spring because they tend to dry up by mid-summer. The u-shape of the surrounding cliffs makes it feel kinda like you’re looking inside a giant stone bowl. The walk to the observation deck from the parking area will take the average person less than a few minutes. If you choose to hike to Dundas Peak, please be careful because most of the trail has an insanely steep drop off to the right without any sort of railing. I found myself constantly worried for my children and made sure they stayed as far to the left side of the trail as possible. FINALTHOUGHTS Beautiful conservation area that is part of the Niagara escarpment(sudden change in height of land, fracture) that runs from Wisconsin through lower Ontario into Western New York. Hamilton, Ontario is home to nearly 100 beautifully unique waterfalls and/or cascades, so you could easily spend an entire day here touring the area if you are planning to visit Niagara Falls. Be sure to bring your camera.

Came here with the BF and Tasha D on a gorgeous Sunday. We used our cheap-o skills to secure a free parking spot up the road at the Greensville Public School to dodge the $ 10 parking fee. The falls are absolutely gorgeous and I love the look-out spot they’ve created! I would say Webster Falls are more impressive than Tews Falls. We obviously got way lost on our trek to Wesbter. The path to Webster isn’t as scenic as we had hoped and parts are a bit sketchy/dangerous. There’s tons of families around Tews but it gets more solitary as you progress along the trail. It took us about 3 – 4 hours to do the loop to see Tews, Webster, the Railroad tracks, and wander around aimlessly in the woods. Bring a lunch and more drinking water than you expect!

We visited the Tews Falls during a waterfalls trips to the Hamilton area. Tews Falls is located in the Spencer Gorge Conservation Area in the Town of Dundas. It is a ribbon fall that is 40m high and 10m wide. It is a powerful fall even in late fall; I can’t imagine how magnificent it will be in early spring. Just a note that there are 2 waterfalls in the Spencer Gorge Conservation Area: Tews Falls and Webster’s Falls. The two falls are within 20 minutes walk of each other. Both are located near a parking lot. The cost is $ 10 per car or $ 4 per walk-in.
