I went in the day before Christmas eve. My fault. But this store has kind of lost it’s way, so to speak. I came in looking for a neat, nick-nack gizmo for my grandpa to help him out. I know they used to have them. but they seem to have tried to have the stock of all the big box shops they compete with… in a space 1⁄32nd of the size. The sales people were no where near being able to handle the influx of people looking for stuff. So after shuffling around trying to find anything… I gave up and headed elsewhere.

I’ve utilized this location of The Source a number of times, and found the service to rest on both ends of the spectrum. In my quest to purchase a printer, I needed the utmost direction. I required something compatible for a Mac, but that was as far as I knew. Employees at these kind of stores are usually extra eager to delve into the details; however, my assister was nothing of the sort. He waivered indifferently between a few suggestions, but ultimately, did not really give me the sureness that I needed. Here I was, an easy customer who was ready to buy, and he couldn’t even assess the situation. Grr. And if that wasn’t enough, he ended up selling me an extra cord that I did not need(Took back at a later date) AND aggressively tried to pitch me some extra ink cartridges.(Which, I found out later, the printer I purchased came with spares) Horrid service to a tee. He took advantage of my lowly computer knowledge and didn’t even sell me with the information he did provide.(I made a guess) Other times I’ve gone to this locale, I’ve made smaller purchases and have never had a problem. But first impressions are everything… and I’m not sure I’m won over.

So I needed to get a printer, and there was no way I was going back to PCPC( ) for more of their ‘deals’ so I took the trip to the Source at the Halifax Shopping centre. I saw the $ 69 all-in-one photo printer I wanted(yay sale) which did not have a display model above the tag. Fortunately the salesman searched the store for me and actually found one. The only caveat I had with the whole experience was the usb cables, for $ 25. I got one from Sears instead for $ 11. Overall, I think that this Source is a good place to shop when they have sales, with staff who are genuinely friendly and helpful.
