Tarek’s Cafe

Best shawarma in Halifax… Bar none. Venus has nothing on this. All the ingredients are so fresh and the place is always hopping. Great relaxing place to have lunch or take home a quick supper.

OK, it’s been a while, so I thought I’d give it another try… had the falafel on a pita. Different people there, again. This time, he threw a bunch of things together in a bowl (did I order Caesar salad???). So, the falafel’s all turned to mush, mixed in with the sauce (got the hot sauce this time, but still no hint of garlic)… It was actually quite disgusting — not a falafel at all. This time I WILL remember to never go back…

Tarek“s 2 is a great little restaurant; it’s like a hidden jewel in the middle of South End Halifax. It’s a bit hard to find as it is in the very bottom floor of Spring Garden Place Mall and the fact that it doesn’t have a debit/​credit machine is a tad bit unfortunate but the food and customer service is amazing so that makes up for it in my opinion! I absolutely love their Chicken Caesar wrap and their samosas are out of this world! Also, the lady who owns it is very nice and hospitable which makes the whole experience even better. I have been recommending the place to my family, friends, and co-​workers and plan on making it my go-​to place for food when classes start in September! (:

Tarek’s Café in Spring Garden Place (Also called Tarek’s 2) is a small off shoot of the Original café for the downtown crowd. It offers a lot of the same tasty salad and wraps that you should not eat if you are going back to a customer service job. The food is heavy on the garlic and also heavy on the delicious.
What I like about this place is not just the food, it is also the customer service. The guy who works the counter always knows exactly what I want when I arrive. I don’t visit that often, which makes it even more impressive. This guy is really friendly as well and makes my experience a great one every time.
Much like the other Tarek’s, Tarek’s 2 does not have a debit machine. There is a bank in the building so you will be able to get money, but it’s best to remember to bring some before hand. The lack of debit is my only complaint about this otherwise fantastic establishment. If you don’t feel like marching up to the far end of Robie, give this place a shot.
