Roots is my favourite store and I always look forward to the two hour trip to this particular one. I have been to the Halifax Shopping Centre Roots and the Spring Garden one, but the employees there were rude and not at all helpful compared to this location. The employees here are helpful and super friendly, always willing to help you out or get you a different size. There’s never a line up for the dressing rooms and the store has a lot to choose from. This is my favourite Roots location(and the only one I will go to Halifax!)

Don’t be fooled by the rather small and hidden-away front entrance to this Roots store. It’s a LOT bigger than it looks. Whenever I’ve been by this store there’s always been huge hyped signs about 50+% off, making one think they are almost giving things away. Not the case. Someone mentioned it was an outlet store… but nowhere in or on the location did I see the word«outlet» used. Plus the inside looks like every other roots I’ve been to. So maybe they’re just letting people think they’re an outlet because of the few genuine outlet stores surrounding it. Truth is, there was precious little on sale. and what was on clearance was of the look/style/quality that one can understand perfectly why no one else wanted to buy it and why it ended up in clearance. Of course, I should mention that I only perused the men’s clothing section and not the women’s, so theres the possibility that things could be difficult on the other side of the gender aisle(left side of the store is menswear, right side is for the ladies). I was a little disappointed to find myself walking out without a single purchase. and maybe disappointed in myself for buying into the huge discount posters tacked to the storefront windows promising bargains that either aren’t there, or bargains that no one would want. Bonus stars for polite staff that greet customers when they walk in the store and inform them of the specials of the day.

This is one of my favourite stores to shop in when I’m looking for comfy clothes! This particular Roots is an outlet store so they have a great ‘mark down’ selection. Roots is quite expensive if you purchase from the regular stores, so to save $ 20 off a pair of jogging pants at the outlet store is a great deal. I usually go into this store and get a few people’s Christmas gifts. I particularly like the baby section of this store. It’s the only Roots store to remain selling baby clothes. It’s difficult to find a nice track suit or jogging suit made out of good quality, durable material. The staff are friendly and helpful if you ask for it. They usually don’t come up to me and ask me if I need help. Also, there return policy is pretty good. Hold onto your receipt and keep the tags on the clothes and you won’t have any troubles.

This Roots store is an outlet store, and the value is fantastic! If you don’t mind wearing last season’s hoodie, you’ll find great savings in men’s, women’s and kids’ clothing. I shop at Roots every Christmas, and the kids make out like bandits because of it. T-shirts, yoga pants, even jackets — this Roots store has it all at vastly discounted prices. The one caveat is that all sale items are final, so be sure of the sizing and colours you buy.

Charged with the task of buying gift apparel that is both, representative of Canada and made in Canada seems easy enough: Roots!, right? Wrong. Despite at least +95% of the items at this particular Roots having been made outside Canada, that is not the reason for which i give this particular store a shabby review. Furthermore, I can think of more than a few Canadian-made and/or –grown items that are produced in ways that would make you question supporting«local». Sorry, back to this particular Roots. The staff person at I had to interact with at this location was a cashier and so ridiculously illogical, well here’s the story: signage says: spend $ 50 and get a free bag. ‘perfect’. my two identical gift purchases are each $ 59 + tax. cashier refuses to give me to free bags, since i’m the ‘same person’. the same person?! wtf? i pitch a couple of hypothetical scenarios at her: a) i pay for each gift separately, b) i buy one and then get in line again to pay for the next, c) buy the first, leave the store, and come back later to pay for the second, d) come back tomorrow for the second gift… her logic is: no, because i’m the same person?! and apparently roots has a policy. ridiculous if you ask me. 2 stars for an orderly and clean store.

Roots has a great selection at this store. I have bought a great purse and cloths here. Roots can get pricey at times, and this store you will find some great deals. It is a fairly large store and nothing is too crammed into one another. I do find you are sort of on your own here though, the staff is not rushing to your feet to see if you need help. But when asked, they do assist.

What I enjoy about this Roots, is that it’s the only Roots in the greater Halifax area that isn’t situated inside of a shopping mall, but rather, is part of a plaza with it’s own private entrance. Also, unlike the other Roots’ stores, this store is actually a «clearance store» with lower prices. The store is very spacious and staff are very friendly, and they offer a wide selection of men’s, women’s, children’s and infants clothing. The only downfall of the store is that once purchased, clothes cannot be returned, only brought back for exchange.
